Description
Yeah, okay, okay. Like I don't know what kind of hypocrite I am for starting another sequential art project right after all the fussing I did about slaving away at the Pact. Bah! This is for one of my Video Game Development classes, Storyboarding and Character Design. We finally moved into the actual storyboarding part of things after spending a while on character and stuff. The end of this probably won't be seen until the end of May, cause that's when the class is over. Until then we're required to show about 5-10 panels a week or so. (Or at least that's what I'm going to be doing.)So I've discovered the glory of non photo blue. I draw during my boring Video Game Production class and will spend one night a week coloring the greyscale in. This is digital, so things go way, way faster. My instructor was also nice enough to let me do my own script. Everyone else is doing movies. But I'm the most kickass artist in the whole class, so what the hell.
So these are my storyboard panels scanned about a 600 dpi and resized for graphic novel purposes. I really wanted to do this full color, but after what The Pact did to me, I don't think I need to be chaining myself to any extra work. Plus, we're required to have things in greyscale, so I didn't see the point in doing the same panel twice! (Aaaaaaagh! Can you imagine!?)
The story idea for this hit me a ways back, while I was trying to fall asleep one night, and my excitement over it kept me awake for a solid two and a half hours. But when the muse hits, you fall down on your knees in gratitude; you don't fuss. This is backstory for Nandin and Sospes, two supporting characters from my Daemon Soul series. This is set in the same world as "Monster" (and probably about the same timeframe, too.)
As usual, I'll try to let the story tell itself, but there are a few characters that might need a little explanation. The unicorn is Hederacea Ivy, a scout-type that shows up in the second book. The crocodile-headed rhino daemon is General Belua Ammut, also a second book character. And of course, there's lil Glaeba, serving as healer for the group.
This format is lending itself to a lot more dialogue, so the script has some room to grow. We'll see.

So, whatever happened to this project? You get tired of it or did it turn into something else or did your teacher not like it after all? ????

Uh ... *looks wildly around, caught out* ... I actually did about three pages of this, and that was all I needed for the grade. I haven't gotten around to converting it from storyboard to graphic novel. I should silently remove it, and hope no one notices my horrible abandoned project ...

Hmnn.. curious premise. And all this for a class... man! I wish I went to school/college in the USA.. we're far too traditional in the UK, having to play it safe for children's books. Gah, and t'think I wasted three years doing that as a degree.. Anyway, anyway! This looks very promising indeed. I'll certainly be keeping up with it in the end, Dino-Lady Ma'am. Best of luck with the class, although heh, you seem very very confident about soaring over it anyway. OK, I'll be quiet now. :3.

Ain't no shame in lineart or black and white! Sequential art is really hard, ask anyone who does it! Real teams have someone dedicated entirely to pencils; entirely to shading, etc.
This has a way, WAY easier prep time then The Pact. It's all pencil, no inking, no thumbnailing needed; I just scan it and pop it into Photoshop.

v-v Yeah, but it will suck in black and white, but there won't be bright colors anyway until Swift's flashback -yay-
And I was planning them just as a 'thumbnailing' but I decided that they were okay, except for the last panels in the first pge (they suck) so I need to change them. And stuffs. I'd ask for your help, but you sound so busy, I dun want to both you. v-v

Whoo! Another sequential! I get so excited, now, when I see you post a page! XD I still wanna do one, myself, but I so can't pick a story to illustrate! Especially one that would fit inside of ten pages. Then again, I haven't actually sat down with pencil and paper to truely think it all out, either. Mostly, I consider my options while, erm, on the potty. <.<; Am I the only one who comes-up with their ideas in the john? Hope not, or I might feel awkward about sharing that tidbit... ^.^' On second thought, no, I don't feel awkward at all, and if anyone else finds themselves feeling awkward about it, then I shall toss my head back and laugh triumphantly!
I just used the word 'awkward' three times and I'm not even sure if I'm spelling it correctly... Ho-hum..
Anyways, I am liking the dialogue thusfar. Especially the bit where the skinny guy tells you to look-up Socrates, and then yells about Sacramento. Hee hee.

Glad you like it. If you're not sure what to do for your own, I'd be happy to look at a script and help you out with it. The script for this actually just got into it's first rough draft form. I know it needs rewriting and trimming before it makes any sense.
