I freaking LOVE Spherical! I thought the tubes looks like piping or wiring of some kind, with the rest as like a complex structure for like a nuclear reaction or something. Idk, it makes sense to me, and i love it. Almost looks like everything is falling into a pit towards the center...
Please check out my other fractals as well! [link]

do you mean the flame file? i could note you with it if you would like

That isn't completely what I mean, but noting me with the flame would be awesome!
Like what did you choose when you saved your image in jpg form...
like quality, oversample, filter radius, etc...

Drummerboy08 In reply to GamerWorld14 [2009-12-16 03:53:44 +0000 UTC]
ah, well i use a 0.6 filter radius on every flame, after much experimentation, i have found that to give the best result, any lower and its grainy, and any higher and its blurry.
Oversample is 4, the highest that my amount of RAM will allow, but i havent really been able to discern a difference between lower and higher oversample.
the quality was at 100,000 i have my own computer that no one else even looks at, so i generally set it to render just before i go to bed, and figure our roughly how long i have before i need my comp the next day and set the quality accordingly to match that time just about perfectly. This time however it took 21 hours to render on a 3 GHz dual-core processor. it was a monster, but i felt it needed all the extra detail i could manage, and i say it was quite worth it

Pssst lol you know you really should credit the person if you used a tutorial or flames from others to help you, so that others also can maybe use it .. spreading the word always helps and is surely appreciated by the person who did the original work
Apart from that...good job

well, i usually post links to the tuts i use for any that i refer to on that particular fractal. i guess i didnt think about spreading the word thru it tho, just more as crediting what i used. i will make sure to do this in the future
and thanks! im glad you like it!

yes im sorry, i did look at the others after i posted that and saw you had mentioned it. I just find when im looking at devs and the artist says he/she used a script/tut but doesnt show which one or say where to get it, its very frustrating if you want to learn or do something simular.

oh yea, i always credit tutorials i use, and i just plain dont sue scripts but i know what you mean about spreading the word, so everyone can have a shot as these techniques

AmorinaAshton In reply to Drummerboy08 [2009-12-16 21:53:06 +0000 UTC]
Lol why dont you use scripts if i may ask? I use them when they come out new, cos first its fun to tweak them and make my own style out of them, and secondly i learn from them too Some use variations ive maybe never combined before and its interesting to see how they have worked together.

Drummerboy08 In reply to AmorinaAshton [2009-12-16 21:57:33 +0000 UTC]
its just something about them, seems like it cheating, same with using a flame file. its not really me making the fractal, and it takes so much longer to learn from a script than a tut, which you can usually understand the basic premise of the style in just a few minutes. plus, its easier to refer back to a step-by-step image than it all together and trying to decipher which transforms did what, etc...
but mostly its cuz it feels like im cheating, i have always been one who would rather figure it out myself or have it shown to me, rather than it done for me

AmorinaAshton In reply to Drummerboy08 [2009-12-16 22:21:42 +0000 UTC]
I totally understand that, but it is definately not cheating...ive been making fractals since 2003, if i hadnt used the scripts i wouldnt have had the knowledge i have now ... same goes for flames...as long as you tweak them to make them your own there is absoluely nothing wrong with that at all... most of my fractals you wouldnt even recognize that it was the script or the flame from someone else becasue i change variations or add others to it .. they are just there to inspire me and show me what can be done. Not one of us long term fractalist would see it as cheating. And if you think about it, following a tut is also making what the other one has made until you change the variations or add something different to the end .. so to be honest i really dont see the difference between tuts or scripts lol. Although yes i understand that seeing it written is easier to follow. I will show you an example in a few minutes of some params i used and what i made of them...you will see that they are totally different and that its fun to tweak like crazy too Anyway i respect your opinion, but you should never see it as cheating if you use them properly by tweaking.

i know, i wasnt meaning that it is actually cheating, but it just feels like it to me, similar to how i feel about copying homework, its like, yes its getting done and i am learning it a little bit, but i learn so much more, and i retain the information if i do it myself, even if im being shown what to do. i have nothing against others using scripts, i have even published one myself, and may be making more, as well as posting my flames. and also, i get kinda overwhelmed when working with completed flames, the few times that i have, i literally had to strip away transforms until i could understand just which ones changed the fractals shape, and then i would have to figure out which variations did it, if theres critical values for them all, etc...

Like i said i do understand what you mean and of course its your choice
But here is just an example of what i meant, these are all from the same starter parameters and yet so different from the original... i hope lol
