Today's woman of science is Jessica Fletcher from Murder, She Wrote (1984). She's a detective of course, but also a professor of criminology.
And hey, can't go wrong with Angela Lansbury.

I love her so much! I remember my mom watching her show when I was younger. The music for it was one of my favorite things, and it brings back such nice nostalgic memories!

Yay! My mom has been binge-watching it on Hallmark's Movies & Mysteries and I watch it with her. Angela Lansbury is superb in it. I also like her work in Bedknobs & Broomsticks and the original BatB.
Fun fact: Len Cairou and Jerry Orbach were recurring guests in the show. Cariou starred in Sweeney Todd alongside her and Orbach worked with her on BaTB (he was Lumiere and she was Mrs. Potts.)

I may seem old right now but, I watch this show with my gram. She loves murder mysteries, If I had to recommend a place that would have these shows TCM for old ones, and Hallmark for up to date ones.

Miss Marple is a different character entirely. Her name may or may not be Jessica but this is a more recent character who was a widower without children who went around solving murders/mysteries while writing novels on such things.

angela lansbury played her in a movie so i just associated it with that, my bad. and yeah, i looked it up. marple was from agatha christie while murder, she wrote was a completely different series/detective
