The Amethyst Guild consists of the souls of those who had performed great deeds in their lives. However, higher beings and individuals who are closest to Yggdrasil such as the Sovereigns, the Great Angels, and the Royal Knights are not among them. This is because they are destined to maintain their roles for eternity. Unlike any normal Digimon, they will be reincarnated as the same individuals should they meet their demise. Furthermore, the Amethyst Guild members were specifically chosen by Yggdrasil for they would be the ones who protect every Digital World in all existing universes. Because of that, Yggdrasil created a single independent universe for them to inhabit which are unconstrained by the multiversal time and space. That means they can visit any universe at any era including their own. But in order to conceal their existence, they are not allowed to visit their original eras or any other universe similar to them. In addition, their forms will change according to the universe they visit. This is due to the fact that they no longer have their physical bodies. Only their memories and experiences remain. Therefore, they will need to borrow the bodies of the inhabitants which are the most compatible with their souls. This also makes it easier for them to disguise themselves as inhabitants of said universe. The only drawback is they will not be able to return to the Amethyst Guild until they die again or at least, their physical bodies are destroyed.
