Description
So here is a villain I didn't think I'd ever be inspired or interested enough to create!

But after replaying Arkham City (GOD I LOVE THAT GAME! T_T) for the billionth time, I was playing around with the Riddler's puzzle box and I found an edge to the villain that really isn't explored too often - his mechanical genius!

Richard Crux was a lost (but rich!) soul living in bachelor pads around the world and exploring his heart out until he discovered an ancient, but extremely damaged Mayan contraption during one his many explorations of sights. The machine was said to have calculated dates and tortured the prisoner in a different manner for every one of the dates.

Crux became obsessed with the contraptions - their ancient power attracted him and every day that passed would swallow him more and more into the ancient rituals and devices that were used.

Upon moving back to his home city of Gotham, to care for his sick mother, Crux spent all of his spare time refurbishing parts of machines that he'd purchased during his travels.

Eventually, he created his very own little torture device - a puzzle box that would explode into a million tiny shards should the user answer the question wrong.

After his mother died, and various villains around Gotham began to take to the night in useless efforts to destroy the legendary Batman, Crux decided to finally put his efforts to the true test. Using every bit of knowledge and creativity he had, The Riddler was born...And with him came an array of torturous devices that would test the Batman, his allies and the people of Gotham during random riddles and questions.

The Riddler's pass time became his obsession, his passion for his work and his beliefs in his incredible riddle machines attracted followers. Devout believers in his ancient methods that aided him in building the most enormous labyrinth ever built. A labyrinth that could only be controlled by the Riddler's gauntlets - giving him the ultimate power beneath Gotham's very streets.

So yeah, I was tired of seeing the Riddler as a joke, or a side act. This Riddler has a cult, a base of operations that spans the entire size of Gotham and it is all controlled by him.
