I spent longer on this than I planned but I decided halfway through to do it slightly differently. There's much more painting in this one than usual so eventually the paint got too thick and dark to use a black marker. Then I thought, "what would Scott Morse do?" ...with an image like this he'd probably scrap it and start again but I decided to use white painted lines and I like how it came out. This is a nice development for me, I feel like I learned something. Anyway, enough bullshit.There's a really basic stages thing in my scraps: [link]

...Great texture on the background, too. That scrapey bit next to his right shoulder (our left) is quite nice.

i like the wrinkly texture down by his "stomach" area. it brings out a more organic feel to the machine, giving it more personality.

I think the lines help a lot, they give it a sense of movement and vigor. Nice job with the textures..it gives the robot a tangible feel.

The white lines were a nice choice since they make him different, the other thing I like is the left rusted arm, it has more personality with it that if its whole metal skin where completely even. Plus his confuse expression and the star complete him as an interesting character.
The contrast with the background it good too.

It's just plain amazing.
I love the design of the robot. Not only 'cause robots are cool, but also 'cause you gave it character. The difference of the eyes, along with the angle of the face gives almost a little questioning, 'I don't know what you're talking about' expression. You must really be good to pull something like that of without even using a mouth, a nose or eyebrows, which in fact are what we use to make facial expressions.
You have given it a great perspective, I think
And all of that, combined with the colors I love from the Dread Pirate and the white outlines, makes this - in my eyes - a masterpiece.
I'm not sure I would say this is your best thing yet, but I'd definately say that it beats the rest of deviantart's deviations. By far. I love it how you keep proving that you're the best around. And I'm glad you keep updating the best gallery I have yet found.

I'm glad you like my stuff that much, I don't feel anywhere near some of the people on DA and definately not on the same planet as Scott Morse. The way he uses colour, brushstrokes, composition, his simplification, his character designs ...christ, it's like porn for me. ...and he's the best short-story writer I can think of.
