Since my first Rikku cosplay during the 3rd Philippine Game Girl (where I won the Game Girl award), I have gone through some improvements on the costume.I re-dyed the scarf again. I am so happy I got the gradient coloring better this time. Also replaced the bra strings at the back into hook n' eye strap versus the string knot style; new arm covers, new boots (I used the boot cover from last time for the blue part); dagger was re-furnished and re-painted; and most of all, better wig styling!!!

because you did an absolutely amazing job on this *_______* most of the ones i've seen have been separate colours and not blended so what you have here is reaallyyyyy fantastic *_____*"

I had a pre-made white knitted cotton scarf. It is actually made of two scarves that I sew together to make it that long. The first attempt using fabric dye (boiled solution) took me three days to dye but still didn't get it right and it made the scarf really thin. Then I used acrylic and fabric dye (bottled solution) to get the colors more vibrant, but even that took me a long time because I have to dye each color separately -- yellow first, soaked the yellow part in the solution for hours, then hanged it to dry. Then the orange part (soak then hang dry) and then the red. For the gradient between colors, I got the yellow part wet with water before soaking with orange (yellow part up, orange soaked down) so some of the orange color rises up and mixes with the yellow.

If you are going to knit, I suggest you use yellow as base color so you can skip the yellow dye process.
