Description Long and sad story behind this one

This is my grandma. She suffers from Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, meaning she has a lot of hallucinations, memory problems, speach impairment, cognitive impairment, and movement impairments to some degree.

Needless to say life isn't easy, and she's a shadow of her former self. You can still tell she is in there somewhere, but there isn't much left.
It started when my grandpa died, she fell into a depression and later developed these diseases. She started falling a lot in the beginning, leading to crippling broken bones and expensive surgery to get her back on her feet. It wasn't long though before things went from bad to worse, as her she fell deeper and deeper into a depression. I'ts quite sad to see a person like that lie in her dead silent home in fetal position (much like in the picture), just staring into the wall most of the day.

She's now in a nursing home, and is somewhat happy. She sometimes calls us up complaining about how we don't respond when she talks to us, but that's because we aren't there. Her hallucinations are that bad now. She even sees her dead husband that she still misses very much, and her long dead dog.
When I took this picture, she was describing the exotic plants on the walls, and the nice feather hat my mom had on. Except none of that was real either.
