nice approach! I am not so familiar with the character so I need to ask where his iris is?
Besides that I recommend to shade the face more to give it more shape. The ears seem a bit too big and 'fleshy'.
I really like the crown and the mouth/beard region. Keep up the good work

i kind of gave up on this 1 rather than overwork it.
the eye is meant to be sort of rolled back as the character drinks a potion that causes visions
