Description There are things only a mother can do,
     only a mother can achieve
     that perfect balance of love
     and scolding and worry when she’s making sure her children are okay.

There are things only a mother can do:
     a mother can mend your injuries with band-aids and kisses when you’re younger,
     and a listening ear and chocolate when we’re older and
     band-aids can only fix so little.

There are things only a mother can do,
     like make us feel like children again or
     encourage us to explore the uncharted terrain
     of our own adulthood and independence;
     both are good in their time because it’s
     easier to face the future when you have a past
     and a place to return to.

There are things only a mother can do,
     and you’ve done all of them.

Wish I could write these sorts of things for these sorts of people sometimes.

It just came to me while I was waiting for my brother one day when I was thinking about what kind of card to get her.
