Man, I love mimics. Such a deceptively simple but truly nasty design. Treasure that kills you, how devilishly evil.

Dark Souls mimic's are especially evil. They can sprout fucking legs and chase you down! They can roundhouse kick you so hard you fly across the room!

Treasure chests round house kicking you is just rubbing it's evil in your face like it's punishing a bad dog.

I'd love a furry Dark Souls. More games need to allow for furry character creation. All I can think of is Elder Scrolls and that Biomutant game that's not out yet.

See, that is a big problem I have with a lot of fantasy. Fantasy is, well, supposed to be, fantastic! Yet most developers only pick the easy and generic fantasy tropes. They seem afraid to just commit to being fantasy and go all out! They have to keep it lame and grounded, because plebs might be uncomfortable if there's a cat person or something.

I guess medieval fantasy is very "safe". It's easy to understand and easier to sell since we all know what it is. At least Bloodborne added in H.P. Lovecraft stuff in to spice it up!
It still needs more cat people, though.

All fantasy needs more cat people! On a side note though, I'm not in any was dissing Dark Souls. Dark Souls is, to me, one of the most creative and interesting fantasy series I've ever had the good fortune to experience. Yes cat people could improve it, because they improve everything; but that aside Dark Souls is quite literally my favorite game series.
Bloodborne looks amazing, yet sadly I'll never get to experience it. I'm a huge Lovecraft fan (I have Cthulhu tattooed on my forearm! Although he's not actually my favorite Lovecraftian creature, just the most photogenic HAHA!!!), so Dark Souls gameplay with a Lovecraftian world and story? It's like it was fucking made for me!!!
With that being said, Medieval fantasy is actually my favorite Genre? Theme? Setting?... Whatever would be the proper term lol! It just pains me to see it either given such boring generic settings (Game of Thrones.) or absolutely terrible stories (Warcraft, Skyrim, Just about any other medieval fantasy game lol)
That's why Dark Souls to me is the Epitome. It manages to flip fantasy on it's head and give us something truly interesting, memorable, original, and extremely well written! Everything I could ever want from fantasy!
