We had just been sitting there, pondering that silly physics problem.
Rather, I was pondering as he was helping me.
I lifted my eyes from my crinkled problem set only but for a moment, meeting his gaze in search of confirmation of my proposed solution.
That was when it happened.
Only for a moment did our lips meet before he pulled back again. He regarded me with a mixed expression of desire and uncertainty.
I held his gaze, shocked and somewhat puzzled myself, as we both tried to decide what we might do next.
He answered our question by wrapping his arms around me, one hand one the small of my back and the other on the back of my head, pulling me in and locking our lips once more.
I fell into the magic of the moment and returned his kisses. One. A second. Another still.
And then he let go.
He released his hold on me, gently though entirely without warning.
He regarded me with the very look that had started this all: a search for confirmation.
I pulled him into a warm embrace for a few moments that felt like a blissful eternity.
I let go and turned back to the battered problem set that hardly even resembled a piece of paper anymore, resting my head on his shoulder as I did so.
And he rested his head on mine.
