Your whisper in my ear -
What happened to those memories
That fade
As I look at you and see naught
But cold, uncaring eyes,
Your face as uninviting as
The rain
Pouring down around me,
Thundering above,
Silencing the cries of
My heart
As its fragile, glassy being
Is dropped, tossed and shattered
As though it were sculpted
Of stone,
The cold hardness from which
Your heart was crudely chiseled.

That night we spent together -
Was it only just a dream?
Or is your distance just the shape
Of my reality?
