There isn't anything movie or TV-wise that I'm excited about this weekend to depict in the latest edition to the Paper Series. I'm definitely excited to see The World's End with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost but what was I suppose to do, draw them as they were in Shaun of the Dead...wait a minute I need to write that down.
So I decided to draw someone who could fit nicely in the Paperman world like Mr. Incredible did. I'm a huge fan of Dave Stevens and love his character, The Rocketeer. I was introduced to the character in the awesome 1991 Disney movie long before Hollywood realized how great superhero movies could be. Really would love it if they'd reboot The Rocketeer while they're rebooting Batman for the third or fourth time. He's such a great character with a gorgeous, iconic look. I really hope that I can create a superhero someday that is half as cool as The Rocketeer.
R.I.P. Dave Stevens.

Terribly underrated movie and a comic that, sadly enough, not enough people read. Used to love how Dave Stevens did ASTONISHINGLY clean line work. Adore this homage to him

The funny thing is, when it first came out, I saw it maybe twice. And recently, my sister got it on DVD and when I watched it, I was shocked at how very well I remembered it. The visuals, the dialogue, it's all just so memorable and stuck with me.
