It's a beachside building, it was part of the fic. It's on hiatus, though, probably for a few years...

I alway thought Gilda's parents were killed and was left in the care of a mean cheapskate aunt.
Her killer⦠a psycho pony wearing a bunny suit. Not the playboy kind.

Zenfirebird In reply to Eagle1Division [2012-07-12 02:32:29 +0000 UTC]
Because a pony wearing a bunny suit kill her parent. She would be mentally scar. Seeing a rabbit would bring back the dark memories.

Yeah. Responsibility. That's what Gilda would've had to face.
Though most of all I wish Pinkie's plan worked to change Gilda's attitude.

Lol, yeah. Scroll down a bit to my reply to templar127's comment. That's pretty much my reply here. I doubt it'll happen with Gilda (Trixie is even more likely, at least there Twilight said: "Maybe she'll learn her lesson one day."), but there's a serious chance with Discord.
Either that or another fight, though that would be a bit repetitive.
And there's a really small chance that John Do Lancie played a different character

Eagle1Division In reply to templar127 [2012-06-20 18:38:19 +0000 UTC]
That would be way cool. It's not Gilda, but I've heard that Discord's voice actor did some work again. I wonder if Discord's back as a villain again (which would actually be a bit old) or if he's turned good or something? That's a real possibility, since him coming back as a villain has already been done.
And hey, remember Luna was the villain in the season 1 opener? And then she came back, terrifying, but good, in season 2?
Maybe our villain from the season 2 opener will do the same?
Or maybe he voiced an entirely different character!

YES PLEASE! Gildia just made a poor move. At least pinkie still has a good genaral out look on her kind. Wouldn't mind seeing this happen. She's a very seriouslly missunderstood Griphon after all in my opinion.

Regarding your Gilda psychoanalysis:
Something I feel might need to be factored in: according to legend, griffons are the horse's natural predator. With that in mind, it's entirely possible Gilda has a genetic predisposition wherein she honestly believes she is better than the ponies, that she is part of a master race. As for why she is friends with Dash, well, I didn't think that far ahead XP
π: 0 β©: 1
Eagle1Division In reply to RoboKitty [2012-06-08 04:46:21 +0000 UTC]
I would agree, but from a very young age Gilda has learned to see ponies as people, so the effect can't be too great, though it certainly seems to show in some cases, like saying "all the ponies in this town are lame". It was probably a factor, coupled with her confusion and such as described in my psychoanalysis

I understand your psycho analysis of Gilda. But here's the thing, is she really like that? I mean, not a lot to go on from only one episode. I doubt that she would ever saw sorry based on that one episode.
I mean the show was meant for children. We can try all we want to put our imagination, which is all right btw, but in reality they will be seen as how they are on the show what they make. Not us.

Eagle1Division In reply to zaiali [2012-06-08 03:35:18 +0000 UTC]
Nobody is a jerk "just because". The closest thing I can think, as a reason a person would be that way, is because they're used to acting that way, and even then there's a lot of psychological depth.
I think if you read about introversion and personality types, it'll become quiet obvious that Gilda was introverted, which reflection will mean she becomes aware of and has a lot of psychological depth.
As for the show; here's what makes MLP:FiM so amazing;
At first, they thought they were just making a show for kids.
Kids aren't picky. They could have made crap, and still gotten paid.
But those folks writing and at the studio were great professionals. That means they cared, and care about their work. They don't want to just make something, they want to make something great, and as a result, MLP became awesome with G4.
This means they put a lot of thought into everything, and an unnecessary amount of depth.
Just to give you an idea of the depth: remember at the end of S1E2, Luna was being welcomed into Ponyville? In that scene, she's given a wreath of red and white roses.
That's a reference to the end of the War of the Roses in England, in-between the Yorks and the Lancasters. For a time, the royal family in England was split in-between the Yorks and the Lancasters, who were represented by White and Red roses, respectively. The war ended in 1485 when one of the Lancasters won a battle and married a York, and the date of that victory marks the end of the medieval age in England; it's an extremely significant event.
Yes, that's called putting thought and detail into the story!
A good author knows a lot more about his story than what he writes. I can only imagine, given only 19 minutes or so of plot time, the writers for the show put a tremendous amount of thought into it that never makes it to the screen. Even Lauren Faust said that the characters have a lot more depth than what comes up.
So, while I'm not saying it's all true, I'm saying it wouldn't surprise me if Gilda really did have that kind of depth. And a few things seem just almost too perfect to be coincidence.

zaiali In reply to Eagle1Division [2012-06-08 22:36:02 +0000 UTC]
I understand that, I did two essays on the war (Hate writing essays btw)
But why would they put so much meaning in to a character shown only once?
I mean trixe was mentioned like 2-3 times right? They might work on her egotistical attitude( or rainbow Dash instead) later on but I don't know about Gilda.
Some characters might just have a shallow personality because they provide some small significance in to the story line in each episode, you know?
Also, Did they ever say any connection about the flowers? Because A lot of ceremonies can use that selection. It doesn't have to be roses for a romantic event . . .
π: 0 β©: 1
Eagle1Division In reply to zaiali [2012-06-20 18:43:32 +0000 UTC]
True, but I think it's kind of uncanny. If they just randomly added a rose wreath without putting much thought into it, I'm willing to be they'd all just be red, since that's the typical "rose" color.
Really we can only speculate on what they put into a character. All we have is what we saw. Anything beyond that is interpretation. And remember the author gets the benefit of the doubt. The benefit of the doubt would be that Gilda has a deep emotional structure, which would obviously be anger.
But, whatever the case, I'm not going to write shallow characters! So the Gilda in my fanfic is going to be deep, and this comes from the idea of her trying to be good.
But rest assured, I can't stand unjustified heel turns anymore than the next cynic, so I'll make sure this heel-turn is well justified!
(A psychiatrist once told someone I know, that people only change when the pain of changing is less than the pain of staying the same.)

It's possible - I'm active just about everywhere in the fandom, and I read a lot of fanfics. I've lost count a long time ago, but I'd say my count is getting close to three hundred fics now.
This looks like an interesting scene though. I'll have to read it

Given Gilda's personality, it's a question of how she could even come to the conclusion she was in the wrong.

Check out my Psychoanalysis on Gilda [link] (also linked in description)
That has my supporting evidence, so to speak. The conclusion I've come to, is that Gilda is essentially like Fluttershy, plus RD's aggressiveness. The result is that she has that desire to be "cool" (which really just means be admired and earn self-respect) and adventurous and all, but she lacks the strength of character to control her anger, which is why I say she's like Fluttershy.
Her strong bond with Rainbow Dash, yet lack of sociability with other ponies, makes it rather clear that she's Introverted, at least among equines. [link] This means we can expect her to be aware of more depth to her psyche and intelligence, intelligence in doing things like subconsciously making an encounter symbolic (i.e, her first encounter with Fluttershy, as described in my psychoanalysis).
Given that she has that mindset, there's no doubt that her being cruel like that hurts her in one way or another. I'm even willing to bet she's fully aware that she's a jerk, and that she wishes she wasn't. When she acts a jerk, acting impulsively, she gets mad at herself, and as a result acts like a jerk, starting a self-perpetuating cycle of anger. That's Gilda's "personality", that makes her come off as such a raptor (Griffon equivalent of the B-word in my fic ).
So she knows she's in the wrong, she just lacks that ability to cool herself, and put down her pride enough to go and apologize.
Err, I'm afraid the rest of what I was going to write would be giving away too much of my fic that hasn't been written yet, so I'll leave it at that
