Whenever an astromech is introduced, the fans gets excited. When the r0 droids were introduced, some fans were happy due to the fact that the r0 design is based on a video game droid characters. But others were outraged due to the R0 not being named R10, due to the fact that the r2 started the main design. Me, I just place the r0 after the r9.

As for this figure, I’m happy that itstarted the r0 droids line. Just wish they gave him/her a description. Seems Disney doesn’t care for giving descriptions to droids. Quite a shame.

If I were to rate this droid, I’d give it an 8/10. Since this droid lacks a backstory.

Now some of you might say that it’s r2-q2, but maybe it’s r2-f2 who appear in the movie. As we know, r2-q2 and r4-m9 were captured by the empire. While r2-f2 was destroyed during the Death Star. But what if after the destruction of the Death Star, r2-f2 was recovered and rebuilt. Even if it say r2-q2, to me it’s f2.

The toy is ok, but the part where the big eye thig is miscolored grey than black. But I give it a pass.

If I were to rate this figure, I give it a 9/10.

D4-R4B / M9-G8

Now some state that this is r4-m9 when they first see him. But to me, that’s not him due to a small noticeable detail. This droids left (right on his view) stripes is not attach to the tip of the head manipulator arms, while r4-m9 has the stripe touching it. So D4-R4B and M9-G8 are not r4-M9. Also, since both D4-R4B and M9-G8 used the same prop, it’s likely that they’re the same droid and that their name different is similar to G8-R3/R5-A7. Also, a pilot in a new hope is accompanied by a droid with the same design of r4-m9, which could be either of D4-R4B or M9-G8. Now some of you might say that it got blown up, but a lot of droids gets rebuilt after surviving an explosion. Like r2-d2, r2-q5 and r5-j2.

The toy is greatly designed, sometimes I take his head and r0-4l0’s body and mimic the droid from hoth that has a similar head to r4-M9. Which is good for giving others ideas.

If I were to rate this figure, I give it a 10/10

R5-X3 / RP-G0

Sometimes, a fanfic can makes a character have a better story, if planned right. In my headcanon, R5-X2 and R5-X3 are the same droid, it’s real name is R5-x3 and lied to jabba in being R5-x2, just in case he gets into trouble. When anakin won the race, the droid was worried that jabba would scrap him for not letting him bet on anakin, the droid escaped from tattoine without being spotted and somehow made it to corusant. Unknown that jabba didn’t had any problem with not betting on the boy. As his time in hiding, x3 used its original name and survived countless danger like r2-d2 and r2-kt as he joined the rebels. But this is my headcanon and some of you might hate this fanfic I made. but hey, one can create what they want. I prefer calling him r5-x3 so y5-x2 can be called r5-x2

Now that I have the third of the prequel r5 droids, there’s only one more to get, that being R5-C7. I don’t have a problem that he has an original trilogy r5 head design. He and r5-d4 are the only ones to have been seen with the prequel r5 head and the original r5 head. An interesting fact is that r5-x2’s head was previously used by g8-r3, while its body was used by r2-r9.

If I were to rate this figure, I give it a 10/10.

I like to call these 4 as “the innocent quartets” because these 4 were one of a few things I enjoyed of the movie, the other being bb-8, r2-kt and that they didn’t destroyed r2-d2 like Kathleen Kennedy wanted to do. I didn’t like the movie because it felt a lot like a new hope and that Ray’s character development was as plain as a stick. That’s my opinion and I stick to it.

Next time, I will talk about an r5 unit that it’s coloration inspired me to make its backstory.
