Bio card: R2-D2 is a heroic, tenacious and extremely well-built astromech droid. Owned by the Royal House of Naboo, R2-D2 has been assigned to the Queen's Royal Starship because of his outstanding performance record.

Everyone has a beginner figure when starting a collection. Some start with Luke skywalker, others goes with darth Vader. But since I grew up watching the 3 prequel before knowing of the original trilogy, the character that dragged me to love Star Wars was R2-D2. If it wasn’t for this droid, I’d probably wouldn’t have watch the Star Wars movies or play the games. The only movies I hate so far are the sequel trilogy movies due to how underused R2-D2 was and that they were originally going to leave him shut down during the force awaken until the script was changed. One of Kathleen Kennedy’s intention to kill off one of the original main character.

after watching the movies, I quickly collected the “Naboo escape” r2-d2 figure, since it was based on the scene i remembered him the most, being the scene on queen padme amidala's royal naboo J-type 327 nubian starship. Now some of you might say that this version is one of the few useless version since all it can do is stand and moves its head due to its middle leg not being removable. But I don’t care actually, it never bothered me and that’s what matters.

On my collection list, he’s the #1 of the bunch. And the title I give to him is “the one that started it all” since he’s the very first of the astromech droid in both general and r2 series. If I would rate this figure, I’d give him a 7/10.

Next time, I’ll be talking about R5-J2, R3-T7 and R4-M9. A trio that made me go to anime convention and comic con to find more droids.
