Description
The Generations Selects line has been a goldmine in terms of giving the fans opportunities to own unique toys. Case in point, DK-2 Guard, a redeco of the Earthrise Ironhide toy (himself a retool of the Siege Ironhide toy), whose color scheme is inspired by one of the myriad color schemes used by the Diaclone toy that became Ironhide and Ratchet. He can also, theoretically, be repurposed as Shattered Glass Ironhide, but for my purposes, I've dubbed him 'Rampart'.
I bought a lot of bits and pieces to augment this guy. First, I bought four kits from Nonnef Productions - a kit to turn the shield into a sled (replicating a feature from the old Diaclone mold), a kit to give him different feet and thus a more convincing alternate mode, a kit to give him new hands, and a kit to give him new guns. I ultimately ended up only using the kit for his feet, however, as the hands ended up not being able to fit anything in them, the new guns weren't sized to fit either the new hands or the stock ones, and the sled was just a little too busy for my liking. Next, I snapped up the Shockwave Labs SL-142 kit, which filled gaps in his back, arms and legs. Beyond them I also got the 115 Workshop YYW-12B weapon set (which took the original feet and turned them into part of a jetpack) and the YYW-12-AG kit (more gap fillers as well as alternative new feet, though not as nice-looking as Nonnef's). Overall, I'm very pleased with him. And he took less time to put together than I expected.
