Wondering through Lavender Town, Ash grew tired from his training and sat down on the bench. Pikachu followed behind and sat on top of his hat. "I don't know Pikachu. We should train more before we get more badges." His pokemon only sat still watching other trainers pass by. "We'll take a quick break and train more later." The mouse Pokemon wasn't paying much attention to his trainer and pointed to his left. "Pika!" "What is it Pikachu?" Ash shifted his head to where Pikachu was staring and saw Gary approaching on a car with cheerleaders waving to people who walked by.

Ash thought as he watched, "Gary's such a show off. I'll prove to him and everyone else that I'll become the Pokemon master!" The car slowly came to stop in front of Ash and Pikachu with Gary smirking at the two. "How's it going Ash? Like my ride?" "Not really Gary. You just like to show off!" Grinning back, the cocky Gary stated, "I beg to differ Ash." He then snapped his finger sending the cheerleaders into a cheer.

"Gary Gary, he's the best! He looks hot in a vest!" "Thanks for that one ladies. But now if you may excuse me, I have to go heal my Pokemon and continue on being better than Ash." Ash grew annoyed as Gary walked past winking at him. The troubled trainer then got up and said to Pikachu, "Come on Pikachu." Ash and his companion went inside and saw Gary near a storage closet.

A sudden burst of rage fired up Ash and he charged tackling Gary so hard that door shut behind them. "Gah, what are you doing Ash?!" "I'm tired of you showing off! What's the purpose of that?!" Trying to get up, Gary finally confesses to him. "To impress you!!" Stunned, Ash blushed and looked at Gary. "Really?" Gary blushed back, "Yeah I did. What's the prob.." he got interrupted as Ash kissed him. The cocky rival didn't know how to react so he replied, "Why'd…. you do that?" Simply smiling, Ash answered, "You'll have to find out."
