steel and rust are the result of an experiment where somebody tried to put the souls of people who died into robots. the experiment succeeded and Steel and Rust became sentient. although, the process of putting their souls inside the robots cause them to lose some of their memories, including their original names. Steel has decided to try to learn as much about technology as possible, while Rust refuses to do so and sticks to his old ways.
