Description

A shot from our ascend up Observation Mountain shows the creeks we crossed and followed to get up to this point. The creek in the bottom left is Columbia Creek. It joins with Canada Creek, coming through another valley from the left, close to where the green "triangle" peaks into the valley from the right. In the very back Canada Creek spreads and finally joins with the Ä'äy Chú (Slim's River), the outflow of the Kaskawulsh Glacier.

Location: Observation Mountain, Kluane National Park, Yukon Territory, Canada

The creek looks like it has room to be a flowing river....... if it had enough water
A beautiful place

It actually can be quite powerful. Especially Canada creek has enough water to spread out into a dozen "small" streams in the plains way back. And by small I mean still 4-10 m wide each. It swells a lot over the course of the day due to ice-melt.

I'd never even heard of this place until I saw this pic and then I decided to read up on it. Fascinating place and beautiful, too, so thanks for sharing this pic.

eegariM In reply to MarvinDiehl [2019-03-27 20:15:53 +0000 UTC]

Amazing!! How close is the nearest Walmart to here?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

eegariM In reply to jonathanjessup [2019-03-26 18:31:53 +0000 UTC]

About 30 km by foot and then another 225 km by car. Way closer than the next Walmart from my hometown.

LOL I was asking in a joking way of course. Such astounding mountains don't need a Walmart. Wonderful photo Miragee!

I considered posting a google maps link.

Just kidding, I know you were joking and just went with it for fun. Btw. there were two Walmarts close to my town years ago but Walmart failed horribly in Germany and closed all their stores shortly after trying to get their foot in the door here. Hopefully for good. We don't need that shit here.
