Except very complicated models, under most situations, one character has one texture.

Haha, I did that with one of my models but getting it all nice and well-worked out was incredibly difficult, there's also the problem of stretching textures and stuff like that.

Bacially, the UV for game-used model does not expand, so you can't make papercraft model out of it.
