He is so cool looking. I really like how you made the colors so intense and saturated like, perfect for him since his design consists of warm colors.
Very lovely work, and OMG I love his hair

I had a hard time on his hair because...I don't really like yellow, lol.

I understand. I love blondes, but aside from hair, yellow can be a hard color for me to work with too.
I meant to say in my last comment also, my heart breaks every time he dies too ;A; the injustice!!

SAME haha Blondes are cute. Esp those with black eyebrows > : D
I try to make the shadows look more orange because a darker shade of yellow looks like puke green D:
YES, WHY CAN'T THEY KILL CARTMAN?!?! urrrgh D:

>3< Yesh~
I understand. Green doesn't work well for shading on yellow usually D: especially puke green. Ick.

Haha, everything that is nice XD
I kinda really admire traditional watercolour stuff, but since I know I'm kinda hopeless at traditional painting etc, I study digital stuff alot. Like, all kinda. LOL. youu?

ThunderGoddesKino In reply to effthree [2011-01-06 19:40:45 +0000 UTC]
lol I actually asked what kind of "pairings" you liked, but this works fine too. XD
I can't honestly paint, I haven't attempted it much and I failed pretty hard at it before. But I would really like to sit down and give traditional painting a go again. Watercolor and gouache (I heard that's a nicer alternative then acrylics?)
I love digital coloring, so digital painting is next on my list of things to study. C:

LOL OKAY XD
I like everything that looks good XD especially when the 'theme' colours of the two characters compliment each other
hehe, the last time I did watercolours was when I was like, 10 XD My mum banned me from painting after that, lol.
Traditional paintings usually take a much longer time than digital, and the mistakes are WAY harder to correct
hmm, I've never heard of gouache, but it sounds expensiiiveee (I'm a student, no money lol.)
detailed digital paintings are super impressive I like go into depression when I see great digital paintings cuz they're too awesome XD

Ah okay, so you're pretty open then :3 that's cool! Any OTPs or anything?
Traditional media is way harder to work with, but it's a whole different kind of satisfaction when you do it, you know what I mean? Even though I haven't done it in so long, I like the feel of the markers or brushes or whatever in my hand while I'm trying to bring a picture to life. Digital is way easier though, especially if you're messy like I am. <<;
I don't think gouache is UBER expensive, but I don't recall for sure. I had to get them for an art class I took a couple years ago. They're not cheap but they're not ungodly pricely, my memory wants to tell me. I'm a poor student though too, so I haven't bought any in a while since I haven't had any classes requiring me to buy supplies.
I know what you mean, I get so bum when I see other artists with this amazing work, and some of them being quite younger then me, I get so emo and down, haha. Especially when they claim their work isn't that good or they suck, and I'm just like ".. dude wtf? seriously?!"

effthree In reply to ThunderGoddesKino [2011-01-18 08:36:48 +0000 UTC]
eh, haha, not really. XD
Yeah I used to be much better at traditional before I got a tablet, but after getting used to digital, I've gotta admit it's much faster XD Everytime I hold a pen, I kind of automatically start doodling...which is why I barely pass half my subjects XD
Woah, I've never attended any art classes except those in primary school where we learn to use clay...
And the school provided the clay ,lol. I've always wanted to try working with pastels but they're kind of expensive, plus I'm too young to get a job...argh...
yeah omg DX I get SUPER depressed when I see super pro people. I can't really say anything about seeing younger artists better than me, because I don't meet much people younger than me Dx
But yeah, I get even more depressed when those pros claim they suck XD

Lol I have always been the same way in school. I CONSTANTLY doodled in class, but that's where I got a lot of my ideas or just neat little composition sketches from. I haven't been doing it as much in college lately, mostly because I'm really focused on paying attention for once and wanting to get better grades. I miss it though.... ;_;
Digital is spoiling when you've only known traditional growing up. It has its own challenges, but it is just far much easier to work with!
Aside from school, I attended one art class at a local art store when I was 17-19. I loved my teacher, she was so talented and inspiring. The store has long since been closed down, but I hope to find her again at somewhere else. I'd love to resume classes with her again. I stopped going because of life issues I plan to major in Art, so I made sure to take as many art classes as I could while I'm still in community college and it's cheaper. XD
Pastels... can be messy and hard to master, but I personally do find them kind of fun to work with still. Actually, I think I have an extra set of them... if so, I wouldn't mind sending them to you. :3 *always happy to help a younger artist out*
... After going to your profile and seeing your page, I'm all "orz....feels inferior" roflmao. I'm 23 and I'm not nearly as good as I should be. I'm old and useless! XDD;;;;;
But I understand even pros have insecurities and times of self-doubt... it's just aggravating to the rest of us. XD;

Haha, I doodle in class tooo But only when I'm in that 'art mood'. I can't really draw all the time, because I'll just end up getting a really bad artblock and like, bum around for WEEKS XD
Yeah, I've only started digital a few months ago,and at first i was like, "dude.whut." because I had no idea how to use photoshop etc XD And my tablet using skills weren't that good either.
Woah, I only attended outside-of-school art classes when I was like, 3 for around 4 weeks before my mum pulled me out XD I've been wondering lately if it's a dream, cuz it happened so long ago @_@
Haha, I still have NO IDEA what I want to study in college. *totally no goal in life*
Haha, I had a shot with pastels a few years ago when I still had the free time to go crash the art classes in my school
nah, no need to XD I break into my school's art room every now and then
Don't say that lah D: I know many people who suddenly improve when they're above 20
Yeah, I'm kinda a hypocrite for saying this, but I'm insecure and I get pissed at insecure people XD. *totally guilty*

I used to always doodle. I was drawing every day or damn near close. Then something happened and life got more complex and I fell into a horrible, deep rut. I'm still getting out of it, hence my rare updates nowadays.
Everyone's like that when they first learn something. I look back at my first works with openCanvas and I'm like "Woah crap, I've improved." It's a matter of mastering three things - practice, technique, and tutorials.
Awww... lol. Well, if you want to someday hopefully you can! At the very least it's a relaxing and enjoyable activity.
I've always wanted to study art and do it as a career, but as I've gotten older I've realized more and more how competitive and difficult of a field it is to master. I still want to do it, as I honestly have no other goals career-wise. But I'm trying to focus more on studying the better-paying sides of the market, like graphic design. I'm never giving up Illustration though. And even if you're not sure when the time comes, just take general courses and try different things, see what you like and what you can do.
Lmao that's cool. And thanks.. I've mostly accepted the fact I am who I am and I shouldn't be ashamed if I'm not as advanced as others, but sometimes it still depresses me and gets the better of me. A lot of it is just me not doing anything and wasting time that could be spent improving.
Haha, eh, it's okay. We're all hypocrites at some point or another. It's just knowing it and not letting it get the best of you.
