Their history with series' based off existing material is checkered, but I heard from a friend that the writer of the original Witcher novels is in on the writing of the series. So, feeling very hopeful that it'll be great. And if they go the Sherlock route with longer episodes? For a franchise so packed with a million things, that would be a great format.Β

It's really interesting that they have the original writer on their team, it likely means that the series will be canon which is good, but writing a book must be completely different from writing a series. The only other thing I know where they did somerhing simular is Fantastic Beasts and I'm not sure if I liked that movie that much. But that's only one example and I'm probably going way to deep on this q:

It definitely is different than writing a long, novel-style series for sure. But there will most likely be a team of experienced script writers as well. Not every project an author is involved in is sure to be a success true, but he's a wonderful author with an amazing vision and talent for drawing near magical detail from even the most mundane of things. I've got some real faith in this project because of that.
