Great stuff as per usual. Maybe try making the individual grass tufts lighter than their immediate background (use strokes with a higher value instead of lower value. i.e. light coloured grass instead of dark coloured. My guess is that they'd reflect what little light falls on it, don't really see what would make it darker). Just my 2 cents of course, nowhere near mastering all that value stuff, so might be completely off also. On another note entirely, you heard of Richard Schmid ? Maybe check him out, caus hes made some amazing landscapes, could make for some good inspiration . Glad to see you're back at it. Keep it up!

Cheers. Is this what you meant?   It's a really quick paintover so it's kinda messy, but I just want to make sure I understood what you meant. I think it does look better though, and I'll keep this in mind the next time I'm painting grass. However, in this painting the purple tufts of grass were actually supposed to be an alien kind of flora, not grass. At least that's what I was going for, not sure if it really shows...

I've seen some of Schmid's paintings. I think you had a link to his site in one of your paintings.

Haha, yeah, that paint-over is pretty much what I was going for Was just a thought though. As for the alien flora, maybe add a little more saturation to some of them to indicate they are in fact different plants (right now the value/colour kind of blends in with the little cliffs on the left and right). Other than that, I have to admit the painting as a whole maybe doesn't completely read as an alien landscape (yet). Apart from the interesting rock shapes in the back, this could simply be interpreted as a cool-looking grassland (the trees and rocks look fairly ´earthly´). I think people will generally assume a painting is referring to our world unless being told specifically otherwise (through some prompts like the cliched double moon in the sky/big planet(s) in the sky, really weird and colourful flora/fauna, interesting alien characters/city-scapes/...). Don't get me wrong though, I'm just nitpicking here. It's a really cool landscape with some nice values, and I really like the increased attention to detail

Lemme try to summarize that one in Finnish (do correct me on this one, I still have loads to learn here):
Tykkään kuvastasi todella paljon, mutta ehkä sinä voisit lisätä ..."some additional alien touches (?)"(no clue how i'd have to say that, dont think that was part of my basic voc...)

Honestly, I have no idea how I'd say "additional alien touches" in Finnish either lol. I was slightly inspired by a zone from WoW (Mac'Aree ), which actually does have a giant planet in the background. But at the same time, I tried to make it my own instead of fan art so... I chose not to make it too alien. But then again, mine isn't nearly as vibrant either so it's not really the same at all. Just an inspiration. I will say though that the idea of adding a planet or a moon in the sky did pass my mind, but I felt like it would clutter up the image too much.
