- November 2022, Denver International Airport (KDEN) -I scheduled a ground tour of DEN with some of my students. It was fantastic! They let us off the bus in all kinds of cool places. We had the really unique opportunity to stand on a closed runway. Not just any runway, but the longest commercial runway in North America. 34L / 16R is 16,000ft (4,877m) long! DEN is generally enormous, 52.38 square miles (135.66 square kilometers). In 2022, it was the third busiest airport in the world in terms of total passengers.
