After working so hard I went out to my yard,
And I looked up to my chimney so long, (and there was nothing to see there)
Just a thousand foot high, way into the sky,
Was a pillar of smoke full of song.
There was an airplane stuck in it,
but I didn't notice at first,
It was so cunningly disguised as a dragon.

surtsey ! phreatomagmatische base surges und die typischen hahnenkamm strukturen der erptionswolke ! klar, doch !
hier haben wir es aber eher mit vesuvianischen eruptionswolken in der konvektiven phase zu tun ...

Excellent shot, the steam from those plants is so distinctive - and getting the windmills in the background is great.

A lignite-fired power plant in the lower Rhine Basin. They have giant open cast mines in the direct neighborhood, and ever once in a while they swallow the next village. People who live there cannot hate it, because they make their living from it, but I would never be certain, if they love it
It is a most impressive sight. On a clear day you can see it from like 70 km away from the hills on the right side of the river Rhine ...
(and aren't these windmills just tiny? I guess they are old one. The new ones have rotor diameters of up to 150 metres !!!!)

Oh! I thought those were nuclear plant cooling towers, that is just what they look like here in the U.S. We see the plumes from them near the big rivers when we travel east or west on the highway - they're in both directions.
150 meter windmills I've never seen one of those - we have similar/identical to these little ones here. The big new ones must make an enormous noise as they turn!

offshore makes sense. wow, that is some advanced blade building - like an immense airplane wing I suppose.
