Description I then received a call from my base.  Quickly, I left the Eye of Terror and travelled back to my home base.  My sensors showed that there was a massive force on the horizon of the galaxy.  All of the psykers realized it was the Tyranids.  I gathered information on them from all the other races.  It was decided to set aside grudges until the battle was decided.  All the races planned to gather and have a stand.  I traveled there, bringing a Levitas chapter, 3 Pertinax chapters, 51 Fidesi chapters, 122 Animi chapters, 213 Ferocial regiments, 1295 Human Warrior regiments, 2853 Imperial Guard regiments, 5892 Caerys frigates and 4225 Squadrons.  This comes to 9,204,000 troops and 13,285,750 crew members.
The Imperium is already there, with 2719 Space Marine companies from over 412 chapters-274(7) and 165(6), 343,302 Imperial Guard regiments and 344,703 ships, 1401 of which are the Space Marines.  Three times the number of regiments on their way to the planet.  The earliest is set to arrive in 8 days, the latest is 5 weeks.  There are 10,299,060,000 troops and 1,029,906 ships on their way.
Chaos arrives with 100 of each Greater Daemon, 800 Daemon Princes, 150,592 of each Lesser Daemon, 38,546 Chaos Space Marines, 127,492 Blood Pact troops, 391,593 Chaos troops, and 2,153,592 Chaos spawn.  Luckily, Daemons can be spawned during the battle.  These Chaos arrived via a long range teleportation from the Eye of Terror.
The Tau arrive a few days later, bringing 27 Ethereals, 4 Tau commanders, 40,928 Tau warriors, 29,850 Kroot, 10,364 Vespids and 105,396 Human Auxiliaries.  There are twice this number, 371,138, arriving later, in 15 days.  These landed forces are bolstered by over 2430 ships.
The Orks came in a massive Space Hulk.  47 Warbosses and over 392,659,238,548 Orks between them arrived.
All of the Eldar came together, from a Webway.  There were over 75,000 Eldar troops, both regular and Dark that stood at the ready under 9 Farseers and 18 Warlocks.  There was also a massive, battle-ready Craftworld that was heavily armed and three complete fleets.
Finally, I awoke the Necrons buried beneath the sands.  A Necron Lord with over 10,000 Necrons and a fleet of 294 starships was under my command.  I got the Necron Lord to send to other worlds to bring back as many Necron Warriors as possible.  100,000 Necron warriors are on their way.  These forces will arrive in 26 days.
As the leaders of the forces met, it was realized that a leader was needed.  I was nominated and received second in command, with Perturabo as the leader.  I was given control of the northern cap, as a final defense.
As I was finishing putting my forces, two Titan Legions arrived, 28 Preceptories and 150 of the Death Watch.
I transfer my body back to my home base, making sure I don’t lose my personal guard.  I transfer my mind, however, into an Alpha + psyker Space Marine and bring my knowledge to bear.  All the troops know it’s me.  I seed an entire ecosystem, all the way up to the polar cap.  There, I build a massive fortress upon a high mountain.  This mountain has 50 trenches, 1-50 1 being the closest to the spire, and a heavily armed and modified Haven Spire.  It has stronger Void shields, devastating corridors, about 5 times the mounted weaponry and has many gun ports.  It is also much larger and the Titan legions are stationed around it.  There are also 9 rings of Einzero pattern sentry guns around the spire and the Titans.  Each trench has a ring of Einzero pattern sentry guns in front of it and behind it.  The forest surrounding the mountain and the northern hemisphere are filled with dangerous flora and fauna.  The entire ecosystem is under my control and there are predators, from tiny to massive.  There is the flora, which reproduces extremely quickly.
I also add gun emplacements that have a dual Pulsar Lance, three Earthshaker Cannons, four Manticore Missile Launchers and two rings of Einzero pattern sentry guns.  There are 16 of these emplacements around the spire.  I have 100 Leman Russ Battle Tanks, 20 Macharius Heavy tanks patrolling with 5 Baneblades.  I fill the trenches with troops, 1-5 staffed by Eldar, 6-10 by Space Marines, 11-15 by Necrons, 16-20 by Blood Pact troops, 21-25 by Human Auxiliaries, 26-30 by the Tau, 31-35 by the regiments, 36-40 by the Chaos troops and 41-50 by the Orks.  The remaining troops are stationed inside the spire.  A trench is 2 meters wide and they are 5 meters apart.
Suddenly, there were massive readings as the Tyranid Hive Fleet warped in.  It was known that the remainder of the Hive Fleet Kraken and Leviathan joined this force.  The remnants made the fleet over 20 billion ships huge.  All of our ships began to attack, but only from above the galactic plane or below, allowing the planetary guns to barrage the fleet.  These planetary guns can destroy battleship sized ships in a single shot and vaporize several cruiser shots.
Luckily, the Tyranids were far outside their weapons range and the planetary guns wrought massive devastation upon them.  These guns focused on the Hive mind ship, while our fleet devastated their flanks.  The Tyranids responded by blowing apart our fleet, battleships down to the starfighters.  For every ship I lost, the Tyranid fleet lost a hundredfold and more.  Even as the planetary guns pounded away, the enemy fleet tore apart our fleet.  Luckily, all the crewmembers had a teleportation scroll bonded to them and when their vessel was about to be destroyed, they were teleported to another planet to rest and recuperate.
As the final ship fell, a Void Stalker Battleship fittingly enough, I ordered the reactor be run at 150% for 10 minutes and the radiation that came from the increase be stored.  The 50% power increase allowed all the planetary guns on the northern hemisphere to fire 25% more destructive shots and 10% faster.  As the Tyranid fleet drew closer, they met even heavier fire than when they faced the fleet.  Battleships were blown apart with single shots and the Hive mind ship was nearly destroyed.  Luckily for them, it was when the 10 minutes was ended.  This barrage marked the end of the 49th hour.  As the planetary guns fell silent for a few minutes, it allowed the Tyranid fleet to approach mostly unmolested.
As the Tyranids entered the atmosphere, the planetary guns resumed fire.  As they tried to land, the transport ships were vaporized and blown apart and incinerated in the atmosphere.  I had all the pskyers under my command control fire and burn any thing that tried to come within 5 km of the spire.  Still, the Tyranids turned the sky black with their numbers and they landed some troops, which quickly became more.
The ones that survived the extremely fiery and dangerous entry encountered the fauna and flora and were instantly killed.  The northern reactor was running low on fuel, so as to conserve; it was turned off, removing a great deal of cover for the northern hemisphere.  This action allowed for a much greater number of Tyranids to survive and land.  About 75% more.
Still, the Tyranids landed at the 135th hour and it took them over 321 hours to kill the fauna and flora and traverse the forest to the spire.  Between the time when the Tyranid’s landed and when they reached the edge of the forest, 1/3 of the Imperium and all of the Tau reinforcements arrived.  Seeing that the northern polar cap was less defended by the Tyranids, the reinforcements flew high above the world and entered the atmosphere directly above the northern pole.  They landed their troops and most of the ships gave 2/3rd of their fuel to the base before returning to space and fighting to the death with the Tyranids.
The selfless sacrifice of the ships allowed the reactor to restart and keep on going for another 100 days and to turn on the planetary guns once again.  I ordered the guns to specifically target the ships in space and leave the transports alone.  This order allowed for the ships to last a few more hours.
When the Tyranids managed to get out of the forest, they reached a flat ground before sloping upwards to the trenches.  They charged only to find that the flat ground was seeded with mines and traps of all sorts.  There were heavy mines, and pitfalls of all sorts.  Traps on a massive scale killed many hundreds of Tyranids.  As the traps are exhausted, the trenches begin to fire, inflicting massive casualties and pushing the Tyranids back initially.
The Tyranids regrouped and sent in a line of Carnifexes who were slaughtered by a missile to the head and then sent in Hormagaunts and Termagaunts in massive numbers.  These troops were slaughtered.  Wanting a quick battle, the Hive mind sent the order for a massive assault charge that would leave either them or us gone.  In response, I ordered ALL the Orks charge and fight them hand to hand as the other troops took the trenches and gave them covering fire.  My orders were followed and the Orks charged.  All the Orks were killed, but only after more then twice the number of Tyranids were killed.  The Tyranids still seemed to have an endless force, of which destroyed the entirety of the forest.  I then rolled out 20 Baneblades, 40 Macharius Heavy Tanks, 80 Chimeras, 40 Hellhounds and 200 Leman Russ Battle Tanks.  I put them in an arrow formation and sent them rolling to the southern polar cap.  400 Space Marines were sent with them.  This force bulldozed the Tyranids opposing them.  As the column rolled out of site, the Tyranids renewed their attack.  Massive numbers assaulted the trenches, most of which had run out of ammo, especially the turrets.  The Tyranids destroyed the rings around and overran the trenches.
They only got to line 40, where the fighting intensified.  The trench went into hand to hand combat while the trenches above attacked the reinforcements.  The overwhelming numbers told true that day as my forces were pushed back and back and back.  Over the course of 12 hours, my line was pushed back to #15.  The troops in the lines were killed to a man.  At the 12th hour, it was decided to release a special Tyranid strain, one that was securely under the control of me and my pskyers.  The Tsuchi were released and they began to push back the Tyranid forces.  This marked hour 506.
Soon enough, I could see the end of the Tyranid forces.  There were only 5 million ships in the sky, most of them with deplete numbers as I could feel.  I sensed that the Tyranids were going to land and then totally assault one of the two polar caps.  I rallied my men to be on the safe side as the last of the Tsuchi fell.  As the planetary guns still pounded away I realized that there were several hundred ships approaching the northern cap.  In conjunction, the Tyranids were retreating to the edge of what once was the forest.  Cold realization dawned on me.  I hurriedly ordered that the guns that had the distance begin to fire at the incoming ships, which were empty.  Several dozen were destroyed; many others were damaged and crashed among the Tyranid forces.  Seven ships of cruiser size were unharmed however.  Until the Titan legions began to fire.  The Warlord blasted three of them to pieces while the Reavers’ missiles devastated three more.  The remaining cruiser was damaged by the Warhounds but, nonetheless, managed to crash and wreck the remaining 15 trenches.  The Tyranid ground infantry then surged forward, into the breach created by the cruiser.  They charged right back to where they had once retreated and took heavy fire.  Those that weren’t killed by the weight of the ship and the resulting explosion had gotten back up and held their ground.  Honored, I sent out all the Chaos spawn to combat the breach.  As the Chaos spawn fought viciously with the Hormagaunts, the Termagaunts killed the spawn.  With relatively few casualties, the Tyranids pushed on.
The distraction by the spawn allowed me to pull back my trench forces and consolidate them at the spire.  I have all the Chaos troops hold the ground floors while the Space Marines take the middle levels and the Eldar keep the landing pads safe.  I gave a Chaos Terminator Lord a motivational burst, who turned it upon his men and raised their morale.  There were spores that were released and killed all troops without a sealed suit.  Thus all the Chaos regulars and Blood Pact troops hemorrhaged and died while the Chaos daemons took up the banner and fought.
In the depths of the Spire, a bloody battle was fought.  Their Gargoyles were unable to enter because there were no high ceilings so all my winged troops, the Vespids, the Chaos Raptors, the Assault Troops and the Swooping Hawks took the fight to them outside, around the spire.  The Carnifexes wrestled with Wraith Lords and Terminators, Chaos and Imperium, while fire was traded among the infantry.  Between the Termagaunts and the Tyranid Warriors, heavy bolter and projectile fire was earned by the Eldar, SM’s, CSM’s and Space Marinas.  Warriors were felled in large numbers, driven into corners.  But the Tyranids counterattacked.  Hormagaunts slashed through armor and even blades.  The synapse creatures were found and hunted by the Space Marinas.  Sergeants fought with Tyranid Warriors while the Hive Tyrants were killed with Warp powers.  There was massed confusion as in the spire, massive numbers of troops fought for possession of levels and relative safety.  Psykers fought Zoanthropes.
In one of the lulls of the fighting, I realized that this was not anywhere near the remainder of the forces from the ships.  I did not have time to dwell upon it as the Tyranids amassed once again and charged.  I quickly ordered all my troops to retreat to point alpha two and when they were followed, close the blast doors and retreat to point epsilon five.  My corridor was the first one to the center of the spire on the base level.  It was a large circular hall, enough to hold all my troops at once.  Soon enough, the remainder troops from the other corridors arrived.  I ordered a psyker, one of the Space Marinas, to count how many of the enemy remained.  Over 73,000 troops, she replied, several dozen Hive Tyrants, a dozen Tyrant guards to each, thousands of Tyranid Warriors, hundreds of Carnifexes and thousands of Termagaunts and Hormagaunts.  I inquired how many of our forces remained.  She blinked and slowly shook her head.  "We have 453 Space Marinas, 1489 Pertinax, 5402 Fidesi, 10,492 Animi, 11,542 Space Marines and 6213 Chaos Space Marines.  We have about half their number.  Oh wait, we have the 10,000 Eldar in the eight or nine levels above us."
"They are our back up," I responded.  "All troops, I commanded, heed me.  This will be your last stand.  Hold your ground as long as you can.  The Emperor protects.  Space Marinas, you will hunt the leaders and their guards, do not stop for anything, wipe out all in your path.  Pertinax and Fidesi, take the Carnifexes.  Animi and Space Marines, slaughter the Termagaunts and Hormagaunts.  Leave none of them alive.  Chaos Space Marines, end the Tyranid Warriors.  All troops, you have your orders.  Good luck and The Emperor protects."
As one, the doors to the hall were smashed open and my troops sprung into action.  There was only a blood bath that followed.  My troops followed their orders to the letter, leaving none alive.  Flamers burnt with Plasma guns, bolters shredded, Chain blades and Power swords and fists smashed and hacked, grenades exploded and Psyker powers vaporized the enemy.  Claws hacked and sliced, bodies squashed, bullets burst and men died.  Soon enough, the last Tyranid fell and I ordered all troops outside for a headcount.
401 Space Marinas, 936 Pertinax, 3921 Fidesi, 4325 Animi, 3284 Space Marines, 3144 Chaos Space Marines and 10,442 Eldar remained of the close to 200 billion soldiers I had under my command.  I tried to link to the southern polar cap but failed.  Does anyone sense the southern polar cap, I asked.  No sir, nothing.  Worried, I had my troops board Vampire Raiders and Wave Serpents and sent them all, together, to the southern cap.  We passed through the remains of the forest, with no living flora or fauna.  The equator was reached in 4 hours where the forest ended and the flat plains began.  Soon enough, the dead bodies of the Tyranids was enough to see.  It was all to see, with a few dead soldier bodies of the Eldar or Space Marine or regular that fell.  The road soon became impassible, so I called down more Vampire Raiders, loaded my entire force onto it and sent the Wave Serpents back.  Then, the entire Vampire Raider force sped off to the cap.
Beneath, mounds upon mounds of dead bodies that were rotting and decaying, slowly freezing as we passed over.  In 2 hours, we saw the southern fortress.  It stood without soldiers at the walls, smoking turrets and dead bodies littered the ground.  There were trillions of bodies.  I checked the time and saw it was nearing the end of the 576th hour.  It also marked the end of the 24th day.
I landed the entire force but only took the Space Marinas with me.  We entered and found only desolation.  Traveling deeper, we heard sounds of conflict.  In a minute, we reached the main hall and found a desperate battle being waged.  I not only called in the remainder of my troops but plunged into battle, guns blazing and sword shining.  We ended the battle with our sheer numbers.  Perturabo had been killed by a Hive Tyrant after killing 9 others.  Only 15 of the Deathwatch remained, along with 105 Pertinax.  I then released the other troops and called in Hikaru’s and Mikaru’s Desire, half full with troops.  I boarded with my troops and also collected the body and armor and weapon of all of my troops and then self destructed the northern reactor, sending a column of bright, hot flame into the sky.  I then departed but only after I saw the ending to the battle.
The Space Marines and the Chaos Space Marines fought.  Only 251 of the Space Marines remained.  25 days have passed since the first encounter with the Tyranids.  Billions of lives were lost but trillions more were saved.
