Description
Lookie, I finally made a tutorial! Whaaat! This is not how I used to paint unshaven stubble on my plushies. Before I would dry brush it on and it always made me so nervous because it's so easy to mess that up. Had a "duh" moment when I started this one, though, and it was so much easier that I wanted to share!
This is the first time I've tried to make a tutorial so feedback is much appreciated. Help me get better so I can make more!
If you're interested in the specifics of the materials I used, the paint is Soft brand by Tulip, the face and scrap fabric is Blizzard fleece in Ivory, and the poof (I don't know what else to call it, that's what it is around here) you can get just about anywhere. Little ones are 5 for $1 at the Dollar Tree.

Great job! Very smart to use the poof or pouf or whatever you call those things.
Whoa, your plushies sit on their own? I mean, on their backs, their legs are still in a seat position? How did you achieve that?
Ha ha, I use my scissors to trim away excess fabric glue and paint too.
Please continue to make tutorials!

The pattern is supposed to make it so they can sit on their own or stand propped against something. You have to coax and sometimes threaten them to do either, though. There needs to be very little stuffing in the leg "joint," and I've found that it helps to put stuffing pellets or rice in their tush to help weight them down.
I do use a different pattern occasionally that just makes a standing plush. If their head is going to be really heavy there's just no way they'll sit on their own so there isn't much point.

Pellets, huh?
Yeah, I don't stuff the "hips" either.
I just couldn't figure out how you made that plush's legs stick straight up in the air for that picture.

Lol, I didn't do it intentionally. Sometimes they have a mind of their own...

It's the stubble and the scar in his hairline. You've got a great attention to detail, so you need not worry about that! (And no, I'm totally not a Sheploo fan...not at all...)
