Description
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE SIZE OF MY HOOD:The hood I started out with was already pretty big. (big hoods are the only kind that stay on my head) So now that I've added an extra 2-3 inches to that, I have about 5" from the top of my head to the top seam of my hood (if I pull the fabric up) (It usually settles in these gorgeous curves like in the picture at the very bottom. You know, gravity).
That is 10" of extra room in my hood.
This hood is so much larger than I thought it was.
comment for clarification
EDIT: Added finished picture and sorted out my math terms. (whoops haha)
EDIT: Clarified the pressing tips section and added some notes in the margins. Also, I added a small section for talking about edge stitching.

IMPORTANT EDIT: Now that we've finally seen it from the back, John's cape apparently is not this shape!! It is square, not rounded! please ignore my last few pictures shape-wise, your cape should obviously be square!!

when you attach the cape to the hood, do you attach it to the inner or outer hood?

It'd take a long-ass time, I would recommend a sewing machine.

Very helpful!! I'm also assuming you can use this general idea for the other hoods as well? I haven't been able to find any other patterns...

Remember a yard is three feet, most likely 6 yards to 7 yards of fabric.

omg this is really helpful thank you!
But I'd like to ask, what are the exact dimensions of the cloth, length by breadth? Thanks!

Also do you need to use the sewing Machine? Or can you hand stitch the whole thing?

You should use the sewing matchine, sewing by hand would be hell

From my experience, (I've used this pattern twice) it's taken about an Hour and a half.

Its a great tutorial, don't get me wrong. But I'm a little confused about the cape measurements. I'm using this tutorial as reference for my got tier Jade hood, and the thing about the proportions confused me a little bit. Could you explain it a little more?

Buy a tshirt transfer. You print out the symbol on the piece of paper (make sure its a dark transfer) and iron it on! its pretty cheap. plain blue tshirts cost like 3:50 at walmart and transfers are not expensive either

What's a tshirt transfer? (Never been to America and walmarts doesn't exist in my country T.T) The best compromise I got is a plain blue Giordano (which costs ridiculously expensive for a plain blue tee) and is really really pale, like sky blue pale made even paler.

Well it's a paper that can be printed on and ironed onto a shirt [sorry i didnt think about that, im a stupid american] but i bet it could be found on amazon or google shopping.

Is it possible to make this into God Tier Vriska's hood? :v would you know how much fabric you would need?
Great tutorial btw :3

ElectricCamel In reply to electricswing [2012-01-30 03:10:52 +0000 UTC]
yes, I think there's a small, poorly drawn image somewhere in my gallery detailing the pattern differences. Not sure about how much fabric. The hood is shorter, but the cape is quite a bit longer.

OROmeansme In reply to ElectricCamel [2013-02-14 01:14:41 +0000 UTC]
For Vriska just cut the shape however long you need it! It should take about the same amount of Fabric!

The space hood is almost like sewing a pair of pants with no leg holes (that end in a point). Hope that helps!
