I don't think she was though, It being a kids show, they cannot talk about legit death, but, instead they made Tank go into hibernation, so they could still have an episode related to grief. I don't think Rainbow was being overdramatic, She was just going through the 5 stages of grief.
Denial- When she told Fluttershy her book had to be wrong
Anger - "I'M NOT ANGRY!!"
Bargaining - That whole "I'm going to just stop Winter" thing
Depression - The super sad, crying scene
Acceptance - When she finally accepted Tank had to go.
Yes, when you look at the top it does seem like she is being overdramatic, but you have to take into account it is a kids show and they cannot outright talk about death, I think this was just the shows way of talking about it. Β
And pffft. no one is as bad as Sekai xD

Don't think it relates to death as much as 'I'm gonna be alone until he wakes up' and raindow does have a very big trait of 'me me me' so when things don't go her way she becomes quite.. uh.. dramatic. >.> You seem to be forgetting that this pegasus tried to screw up winter for loads of ponies to fit her own desires.

but the winter screw up thing was bargaining, while I will admit rainbow is a bit selfish, I think it relates to death a lot more than rainbow dash's selfishness, But I think her love for Tank is genuine, she really loves him, and just wanted to Β spend winter with her friend. But that's my opinion, and my take on the episode. xD <3

Eh, Dash is -very- self-loving and yes, she does care for Tank a fair bit and loves him as a pet but it's still her own desires that drive her and not any consideration for tank. But I don't think it's an episode about death xD Rather it's an episode about letting nature take its course and that sometimes our wishes don't come true(and that you shouldn't screw with the weather and potentially kill ponies)

She's just too full of herself(I used to argue a lot with my ex because had the nerve to adore RD but claim that Rarity was overly selfish and full of herself. Rainbow's ego is through the roof.)

She can be funny at times but for the most part it's just about her ego. >.<

Her ego actually doesn't bother me too much, though there are times where i'm like "seriously rainbow dash?" for the most part i've just accepted it as her personality. But I see how people could not like her for it. In real life I get really annoyed with people who only think of themselves, It just doesn't bother me with Rainbow for some reason.Β
