I don't quite understand why people are saying this photo is sad. I've been in India during monsoon season quite often in the south and only feel slightly irritated that I don't know what all I'm stepping in. That being said, great pic that makes me remember what it's like trudging through the flooded streets.

This is very deep D:
I love how it shows how people in situations like dont take name brand things that people go crazy for, like Polo, to mind. To him its just a bit of shelter from the rain.

Huh? What has jesus to do with a annual re-occuring natural event I wonder?
And why is it sad that it rains?

This is such a tough reality, that many countries face. It makes me think of the flooding that Australia is currently facing. So much of what we see on here is imaginary, so thank you so very much for sharing this with us.

While it rained in this shot... was it hot at all? I'm used to all precipitation being cold but when I lived in Japan, which was barely tropical, there would be rain that was like 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit.

Yea it was very warm. The actually rain feels good after days of 45+ celcius degree days

Shows the joys of monsoon. On the other hand they are used to it and probably are merely annoyed that they did not make it home in time.
I hope the street got not too much damage...

elementality In reply to Siberianchan [2011-01-23 16:14:20 +0000 UTC]
The street was being widened, hence the debris. But yes, nothing more than an inconvenience for Delhi's residents

Think so too. That's why I don't get how this thing should be sad. The monsoon is something they're used to, the impact on the local vegetaion not to mention.

actually, i've been there during monsoon season - that's not sadness, that's daily routine.
and it's actually kind of fun - as long as you get cleaned off afterwards!
