July's art theme was apparently LIONS! So I could get all over that. I chose to paint a lion of the Winderost, feather-decked mane and all. Lions of the Winderost wear feathers in their fur both for decoration and as a testament to battles won.Never heard of the Winderost? Hello! Just wondering about something in the Summer King World: can different genders be wingbonded? Like, can a female griffin and a male griffin be wingsister and wingbrother, or is that not a common practice?

Btw, how do the lions get the feathers to stay their manes? Do they enlist birds' help or are their paws somewhat more dexterous than those of real-life lions?

A bit of both! Usually a bird can be honored/intimidated into assisting, or a fellow lion will help twist and tangle the feather into place. There's some prestige to having a more beautifully braided mane, of course.
