Description This is my 100th deviation, so I though I'd do something special with it.

Nothing other than the obvious color manipulations has been made by me, so I didnt put it in the photomanip cathegory.
I found the flower lying like just that on the ground, and I knew it would look good the moment I first saw it. This is a photo that I'm very proud of, and I hope you all will agree!

Advanced critique enabled as always so if you have any suggestions I'm happy to hear them

I agree. It was a perfect shot. Very dramatic, yet so very quiet. Makes you realize just how beautiful a single flower is.

I agree. Very nice pciture and I congratulate you on your 100th.

I'm assuming you used masks?
The single color is really great. I absoultely love the texture in the road. This is really very good.
The yellow makes it a cheery phot even though the rest is black and white.

Very nice.
If I was to see it on a gallery wall, it woul dneed to be BIG.

thank you!
Masks.. That would've made sense, wouldnt it?
Didnt think of if when I was doing this picture though. First I turned the entire picture b&w. I used the pen tool to create a selection with paths around the flower, feathered it just a little bit and then brushed the flower with the history brush. Not a very quick method
Yeah, I would definately wanna see this one and a few others on my wall, but I cant really afford a real print. I did print a panorama onto five seperate A4's with our cheap deskjet though, and then pasted them together. It's looking pretty good hanging over my bed, with a nice frame.

pen tool is agood tool. I just can't get it as eact as you did. The detail in yours was VERY good. I have just discovered masks as a way of ceating a selection.
I haven't ever used the history brush. What does that do exactly?
I hear you on the cost of printing. Thankfully I have a job with some small benefits.

I like this piece though.
Seriously.

the pen tool can be really exact, but it takes T I M E ! I wasnt that thorough, because the feathering of the selection will just blur it anyway. The blur makes it look a little better than it actually was
The history brush reverts whatever you paint wth it to the image's original appearance. So when I painted the flower it was changed back to the original colors. Prety nifty tool to work with..

Ah well, perhaps I can get a friend to print something for me. He's got access to large printers at school.

This is so pretty. I really like it. Very nicely focused, framed, and composed. The de-saturation works really well here, too. Happy 100!

I love this! Especially how the focus is! The contrast is fun as well...is it hard to do that to a picture?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

elfummel In reply to Angsty-Poet [2006-06-01 15:19:35 +0000 UTC]

Not really. I just had to lie on the ground and be the entertainment of the afternoon to the neighbours, but it was worth it

Very nice one yep.
( I always wondered if pictures in black and white manipulated to show only a part of it in color where suitable for the photomanipulation category ... Well, anyway .. )
