Heyy guys!!! Most interesting title ever I know. But uh..... its a partridge..... in a pear.... tree!A little background. This was going to be a series this year but I got soooo sick and I was seriously out of commission for like 2 weeks. SO I lost all my prep time. But now I have all year to really make a splash next Christmas season
Going to illustrate every line from the 12 days of Christmas song. I was looking up the lore behind the song and its really interesting. All kinds of fun theories! I incorporated some of what I learned in this piece. First off.... did you know PARTRIDGES AND QUAILS WERE THE SAME THING??? ugh it made finding reference pictures impossible! Also I learned that partridges are actually ground nesting birds, so "in a pear tree" might have been a misnomer from simply the french pronunciation. So I took this and ran with it!!! He is standing on the floor like he should be, and just near a pear tree
Hence all the mushrooms. I love the bright blue shroomies! But this is technically a Madagascar Partridge because I thought their feathers were the prettiest.
Anyway Happy New Year everyone and onwards to tons of more art
