Description I recently discovered that my camera not only has a macro function, but also has a SUPER macro function. Fun fun! So I did my best to take a detailed photo of my iris. I wish the picture was a little bit sharper, but I'm still kinda happy with it. It is a little hard to see, but the camera lense is right inside my pupil. I might do something more with this at a later time or try to re-shoot it to get it looking the way I originaly planned. I wish I had a nice camera with a macro lense, that would be TONS of fun!

very nice macro ..did you use flashlight or some sort of light set up ? ..in 8mm focal lenght (in your puppil ) it has really nice brightness

wow, yeah, that's not bad for the camera, and a (i'm assuming) hand-held shot

Emberblue In reply to aeroartist [2012-11-14 00:47:22 +0000 UTC]

I had the camera sitting on a table. And I think I laid my head on the table too, lol! It would be imposible to get any clarity from a hand-held shot that close.

Thanks!

My iris is almost identical.
Please write me your birth date.
Is very important to me!

I always have better luck with my camera's macro function over its "super" macro function. It's very picky with the super mode and I can never get it just right.

My wife had a nice canon 32mm at some point, but we sold it during the "go digital" craze and bought a cheaper digital camera. I am thinking it is almost time to save up and get a more serious camera.

You kept your eye nice and still. Nice the way you got the lens reflection in the center!

The super macro function on my camera works well...if the object is totally still of course, lol! I can't remember, but I might have used the remote control so that I would not have any movement of the camera, or my eye. Digital cameras are awesome, but there is still something lovely about a good quality film camera.

The fibers in the iris are just amazing to look at and wonder about...

A SUPER MACRO FUNCTION!?!? Lucky! I also love taking macros photos they bring out so much detail making everything ten times umm...amazing...er. But the truth with macro is not how much the camera has brought out but how much the Lord put in.

Emberblue In reply to thaddman [2010-12-03 17:23:17 +0000 UTC]

This is very true. Macro allows us to capture those amazing details that the Lord put in...that can easily get overlooked.

Lovely shot. Yeah only recently I found super macro on my fujifilm, I love it, taking photo's of my eyes especially as I have hazel :3

Emberblue In reply to Skullion [2010-06-21 21:58:30 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. I bet that hazel eyes look awesome in super macro. Eyes seem to be much easier for me to photograph than bugs or plants.

Thanks. I used an Olympus C-5000. It's a very old camera, at least it is old to me considering that I took this photo 4 years ago, lol! The camera was nothing special, just a lucky shot I guess.

Good luck on your photography endeavors. I'm sure you will enjoy it greatly!

well, I just think they're an amazing organ, and there is a lot of personality in eyes. that's where most of us see someone's personality first. I wanted to study an eye in close up because for the longest time I wanted to paint a large picture of just an eye! a beautiful eye! on like a 2 by 3 foot canvas. I think that would be cool!

I use the Olympus C-5000 as my second (non-DSLR) camera and I am very happy with the results for the price I paid. I would hope you are very happy with this result too, great shot.
