Description I recently discovered that my camera not only has a macro function, but also has a SUPER macro function. Fun fun! So I did my best to take a detailed photo of my iris. I wish the picture was a little bit sharper, but I'm still kinda happy with it. It is a little hard to see, but the camera lense is right inside my pupil. I might do something more with this at a later time or try to re-shoot it to get it looking the way I originaly planned. I wish I had a nice camera with a macro lense, that would be TONS of fun!

Thank you. :Aww: Even with an inexpensive camera, you can get good results if you keep at it. That's what happened here.

This is definitely beautiful and enigmatic. I love eyes because they tell so much about someone. This really gets that.

Wow, thanks! It took several shots to get it right. Getting it to focus was hard. I've never seen so much of my eye before, lol!

Thanks! Honestly, my camera isn't anything special. I took tons of shots before I got one that I liked. The key is to keep playing around with the settings on the camera and the angle of the subject.....and taking lots of photos. I encourage you to give it a try.

not SUPER macro! haha.

i think this would be cooler if i didn't start thinking the lines looked like tendons and muscles and other general gross internal stuff.

but BESIDES that, it's really cool.

Emberblue In reply to bluehaloknickls [2007-05-19 22:52:24 +0000 UTC]

LOL! Thanks. You are right, the fibers in the iris look very much like tendons and muscles. I thought the exact same thing.

Thanks for that.

It was difficult getting a shot that close up. It took about 50 tries, lol!

wowhaxer In reply to Emberblue [2006-11-08 01:21:25 +0000 UTC]

ya, I tried a bit using the reverse lens technique, but it didn't turn out all that great.

Emberblue In reply to wowhaxer [2006-11-08 01:52:18 +0000 UTC]

What do you mean "reverse lense technique"? I don't know much about photography. Do you mean actually putting the lens on backwards? I'd try that if I could, but I have a fairly simple digital camera and there is no changing of the lense.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wowhaxer In reply to Emberblue [2006-11-08 04:58:38 +0000 UTC]

You have to have a multi lens camera and have more than one. I used 48mm (This was the focal length on my digital camera's lens at the moment.) and 50mm. You take the lens that is not attached to the camera body and flip it around backward. You must hae the fstop on the biggest for that one. Then you can hold or tape the lens to the end of the other one and you have a hard to focus, heavy, not great, macro lens. Here are the pics I did like that: [link] and [link]

For a better explanation you can go here: [link]

Hey, that's cool. Your macro pics turned out pretty good I think. If I had a camera like that I would definately try some of that stuff. Maybe I'll try some more with my little digital camera, just for kicks.

Do you mean red eye reduction on my camera? I have a setting, but I wasn't using it when I took this picture.

Hmmm....I'll have to check out that iridology thing. I've never heard of it before. Thanks!
