I was looking through some older works, and I found an all-but-throwaway piece that I realized was an almost perfect fit for one of my characters' face and body tone. So I gave her a new hairstyle and decided I'd probably use her as the base for Fioni, who has an "Eh it's good enough" appearance in Girding , and...nothing else.

Fioni is the fourth girl in the first wave of wives whom the emperor weds (well, really, they wed him, and he's quite surprised at it; I'm actually writing that scene now, just because I'm tired of having it kick around in my head for years on end.) For a girl who was born without access to her arms, legs, or face (!!!) because they were in another dimension, and whose blacksmith father had to forge her iron arms and legs, and who suffered from terrible fits as people in the other dimension poked and prodded and experimented on her limbs, and who (even after the emperor kinda-by-accident rescues her limbs) sometimes gets glimpses across the worlds, and who makes paintings so realistic that they can speak a universal language and oh yeah form one-way portals to other places, and who's literally incapable of physical speech (and yes, all of these traits are related), she cleans up pretty well nonetheless.

Character traits: Shy, loyal, secret wanderlust after spending her entire childhood shut away from people who wouldn't understand, probably a wildcat in bed beneath the silent and blushing exterior unless that's just me engaging in standard male fantasies again.
