Birthday: August 29
Height: 5'10" / 178 cm
Weight: 171 lbs / 78 kg
Species: Riolu
Ability: Prankster - [Gives priority to a status move.] - Rory can use non-attacking moves extremely quickly.
Nature / Characteristic: Modest / Often lost in thought
PERSONALITY"Maybe I can help."
Responsible, gentle, protective, honest, devoted
Modest, quiet, passive, pacifistic, anxious, aloof
Stubborn, moody, inhibited, guilty, avoidant
From the get-go, Rory is soft-spoken and reserved. He is quiet and tends to go with the flow, preferring not to stir up trouble or voice his opinions unless he finds it important. The wills of others often take priority over his own as far as he's concerned. It takes him a little while to warm up to others and feel comfortable, leading him to appear stoic and difficult to read. When he does speak his mind, he is often honest and to-the-point, but not brutally so or for the sake of being mean. He's not very expressive but he's not a total brick wall either; Under the surface, he has a sense of humor and will be a little snarky with friends. The young man has a tendency to worry and is often anxious over others' well beings. He doesn't like seeing people get hurt! When it comes to physical danger, Rory is a protector through and through. When he loves, he loves with his entire heart. He will stand by someone through anything once they get close to him.
Rory is someone who will avoid confrontation whenever possible; When emotional problems arise his instinct is to escape and avoid consequences. He doesn't enjoy fighting physically or verbally. He can be stubborn when it comes to conflicts, but finds them stressful. Part of this is due to his aura empath abilities, as he doesn't want to upset others and be forced to feel it too. His gentle disposition leads him to be patient and kind, but also leads him to be a pushover. He rarely stands up for himself and is submissive to others. He's willing to put up with a lot and fairly forgiving of others' faults if he can be sympathetic towards them.
He is diligent and responsible, often taking on tasks without being asked. This makes him reliable, but he's also quick to feel obligated for handling every little thing. He is guilty and apologetic and takes responsibility for things going wrong even when it's not directly his fault. Rory is modest and humble but has trouble acknowledging his own value as a person. He strives for temperance but can go overboard with self-restraint. He is self-critical, self-conscious, and easily embarrassed, finding it difficult to relax and just do what he wants to do. Being useful to others is one thing he can feel good about himself for, so he takes praise to heart. He doesn't really enjoy being the center of attention; He won't crumble, but he will visibly back down when put on the spot. It takes patience to coax him out of his shell and he's shy in situations with a lot of people.
While he's gentle and patient, it's not unlimited; He does have a temper somewhere under the surface. He's fairly mature and level but he's still struggling to deal with the loss of his family and lack of security. He can be moody and get frustrated or difficult, especially when overwhelmed by his own and others' emotions. He doesn't do well with too much attention or energy at once, and shies away from big confrontations. There's often a lot on his mind that he can't find ways to express, leading him to act out by being indulgent or even a little antagonistic when he knows better.

Skills: Healing, fighting
Given his aversion to combat, he'd much rather perform as a supporter or as a medic. Physically he's pretty capable and has high endurance, but his strength works more in defense and blocking or tanking hits. His aura abilities make him extremely alert, and his ability to read others' auras gives him a good sense for when his allies are in pain or afraid. He is protective, obedient, and works well alongside others, even if he's a reluctant fighter.Moveset: (5/5)

Adoptive Father - Levi Jackson - Furfrou [Died at 45]
Half-Sister - Ava Rae Jackson - Lucario [Died at 23]
Hometown: Cinderheart, Obsidian Island
History:
[WARNING: Death, drug abuse, underage drug use, suicidal thoughts]
[TL;DR: Rory was raised with his half-sister and her father in a hard-working but loving family. At 13, Rory lost his father in a work accident, and Ava was now his guardian. She relied heavily on drugs to cope with the loss and Rory became more independent to support her. Things eventually turned around as Ava joined a dojo to better cope with her stress and Rory was beginning to heal. However, when the disaster's earthquakes hit the dojo, Rory was unable to save his sister from the falling roof. He fell into depression, now being looked after by Ava's friend Freddy, until Freddy decided to join Everstone.]
CHILDHOOD
Louise Moore and Levi Jackson had a short-lived marriage in Cinderheart, where their daughter Ava was born. Louise walked out when Ava was 3 and returned to Tincaster where, years later, she became pregnant again and gave birth to Rory. Louise had no clue who the Riolu's father was and was unwilling to take care of him, so the Lucario sought out her ex-husband. Frustrated but sympathetic to a fault, Levi agreed to adopt Rory.
Despite the family's patchwork origins, the three got along well. Ava, now 5, was pleased to have a new little brother, and Levi didn't have it in him to resent Rory for the circumstances of his birth. As far as he was concerned, the younger Riolu was his son as much as Ava was his daughter, so he never told them he wasn't Rory's biological father. Life wasn't perfect for Rory; Money was tight and Levi struggled to make ends meet by working multiple jobs. There was tension at times, but he made sure his temper didn't get the best of him. The Riolu grew up loved by his sister and father, who were both role models to him- Ava for her relaxed and playful nature, and Levi for his sympathy and generosity.
Aside from financial matters, Rory's childhood was peaceful. School was never very eventful for him, as he was a shy kid and more of a wallflower when it came to his peers. He had a few distant friends, but spent most of his time tagging after Ava or staying home or exploring the nearby nature, playing alone. His father rarely had time off from work, but when he did, he did his best to spend time with Rory by passing his favorite hobbies of music and cooking onto him. As Rory got older, those hobbies crept into his free time as well, in addition to working little odd jobs around town to help with money.
ADOLESCENCE
Life continued as normal until Rory was 13 and Ava was 19, when a work accident at the docks caused the death of their father. Grief weighed heavily on the siblings, with Ava soon turning to drugs. Between that and the Lucario generally being more carefree and irresponsible, she feared she wasn't fit to take over as Rory's guardian, but neither of them had immediate family that they knew of and couldn't bear the thought of Rory being handed off to someone else. Ava and Rory remained in their childhood home; Ava took on jobs to provide for them while Rory found himself taking over most of the housework and taking care of both of them. He had always been responsible and low-maintenance for his age, but these circumstances led him to mature pretty fast.
They slowly adjusted, life was passable but not great by any means. Rory became more withdrawn after their father died, and didn't really understand the effect Ava's drug use was having on her. He was used to it, and while at first he was uncomfortable, he later saw nothing wrong with occasionally smoking with her since she would often allow him to. But by 15, he seemed to be asking Ava to join her a little too often, and she realized her habit was gradually getting worse as it kept losing her jobs and required Rory to do more work to make up for it.
Ava began attending a nearby dojo, hoping the training would help her kick her habit as she wanted to be a better guardian for Rory. This left Rory alone at home even more often, but by then he was well equipped to take care of himself and he didn't complain, regardless of the loneliness he felt. If Ava felt she was getting healthier, he wanted to support her. Rory found himself at the dojo after school now and then, talking with Ava's mentor, an old Xatu named Shaw, while working on homework. Things seemed to be improving as they started to properly accept the loss of their father.
For two years their lives carried on in relative calm. Rory joined sports teams to get himself a little more active while Ava was busy, which gave him more people to talk to after school. Life had finally changed for the better.
DISASTER - PRESENT
Rory was with Ava and one of her friends in the dojo when the disaster struck. they thought they'd be safe inside, but the earthquakes and nearby eruption lead the dojo to suddenly cave in. When Rory regained his bearings, Ava was already buried under the rubble of the collapsing building, blood seeping out from the pile of rubble. In a panic, Rory tried desperately to get to her, but Freddy held him back, recognizing that she was likely already dead and they needed to get out before anything more collapsed. As the Riolu struggled against him, Freddy's concerns game true, and more of the ceiling gave way.
Rory's Protect activated around himself and the Venomoth, keeping them safe, but by then the damage was done. If Ava had somehow survived before, she was definitely dead now. Rory could only wish he'd been crushed instead of or even alongside his loved one. As the Protect faded, Freddy managed to carry him out of the building, and all he could do was cry. The two waited out the rest of the disaster, Rory utterly anguished and unresponsive.
His condition didn't improve afterward. He became despondent as reality set in, and the next days were a blur in which he barely ate, slept, or spoke. He dreaded going back into town and feeling the stress and grief from the disaster all over Cinderheart. However, he didn't know what to do with himself besides listlessly follow after Freddy and occasionally go off on his own when he couldn't stand to be around people anymore. He wished he could simply stop existing. In time, his broadcasted grief became nothing but emptiness.
Rory stayed by Freddy's side in the following months, however. It wasn't long before Freddy found himself looking after another adolescent, an aggressive Togetic named Amie who lost her previous guardians to the disaster. Sometime after that, a young Spiritomb named Nat joined their little group. Rory was hesitant with both of them (moreso Amie, whose fiery emotions were intimidating to say the least) but after a while he was able to warm up somewhat to the gentle ghost and at least timidly accept Amie as an ally. The three of them became Freddy's students as he began to pass down some of his training from the dojo. The group was unconventional, but he cared about them and was more than willing to take care of them with a little cooking or cleaning here and there.
It was nearly a year after the disaster when Freddy proposed the group go to Everstone to join their guild. It was clear that Rory still had nowhere else to go, and although the wounds from the disaster still felt nearly fresh, he figured he could use something to keep his hands busy. When no one had any major complaints, the group was on their way.
OTHER"...Sorry, I don't have a lot to say."
Notes / Fun facts:
PHYSICAL
- When he feels something strongly, his own aura intensifies enough that others can pick up on his emotions. He has no control over this; Because his sister wasn't good with aura, he never learned how to control his own output.
- Being a Riolu, he's able to see the aura waves of other Pokemon. These waves can help him sense the emotions and physical wellbeing of others.
- His own emotions tend to reflect those of the people around him.
- Because of this, he keeps away from large crowds or people who may be upset with him, as it stresses him out.
- He's got a lot of stamina and doesn't tire easily. He's also very physically strong.
- Loves to cook, especially for others.
- He enjoys singing and will often sing or hum to himself while doing chores if he's alone. He's a little shy, but would sing in front of someone if they asked.
- He's a horrible liar; Even though his poker face is good, he gets so guilty and stressed out that he broadcasts his emotions.
- Tilts his head far to the side when he's confused.
- After the disaster, he has a bad fear of earthquakes.
- He has a mild fear of heights.
