And another "piece" submitted as a deviation instead of a scrap because it gives me something to put here. I'm rather fond of all of the sketches anyways, so put up with them until I get a non-sketch submitted. It'll move to Scraps when I feel like it.Related content

I'm really happy with the top-right girl as well. It's supposed to be a sketch of my friend while we were chilling in her brother's room so it's more of a nonanime-ish style... sort of.
And that fuzzy thing was going to be a "cabbit" but a friend tipped me off that those already existed so we decided on "bunat". Sounds weird but it's still cute. XD

I was totally thinking cabbit XD but wasn't entirely sure if that was what you were going for or if it was a pre-existing chara or anything XD So it's a bunat, huh? Heheheh, sweet~

I'm glad you could tell it was done from life. Anime-styled drawing is really fun but I know I'd love to eventually do some other stuff. I think an anatomy class, or even an actual art class might help.

*nodnods* Yeah, I really do appreciate the art classes I'm taking, even if I slack off in some XD;; 'n yeah, figure drawing reeeaally helps and is an awesome class, you should definitely consider it, or see if they have freebie life drawing sessions around~

I'll have to look into a drawing class in the fall. Should be great considering I mostly [try to] draw people, I'll get better at proportions. I find my heads tend to be a tad too big when I do full-body pieces.

Yeah, average adult is 7-7.5 heads tall, but an easy ratio is the "ideal" proportion of 8 heads. I tend to switch between all three, sometimes 6-6 1/2 heads for young(er) adolescents and lower. It's occasionally tedious and sometimes can stiffen a figure (in my case, anyway), but very useful.

I dunno... both XD;? I'm a fan of longer(looking) torsos, so that's where 7-7.5 comes in. 8 is I guess more appealing because everything's pretty... even. Something like that. The figure may look tall, too, with the 8 head. Not so much as "superhero" proportions, though, oh man e___e

I'm all for long-legged bodies but I tend to draw long torsos as well so the ending result is usually a small head in proportion to the rest. XD I find I tend to do hip-up pics instead of full body, I think I'm scared to do the rest...

8 heads has proportions that are pretty east to remember, and the legs are/appear longer, so that might be a proportion you could work from |o Lessee, though a pic might do best I can tell you how things line up XD The only think i'm not so sure about is shoulder-width ('s either 2 or 1.5 heads)
1- stops at chin, 2- stops at nipple, 3-ends at navel, 4- pubic bone/hip bone/wrist, 5- fingertips, 6- knees, 7- shin... thing XD; and 8 would be at the feet. See if that helps out any?

I find I have a hard time with shoulder width as well, usually too wide though. Thanks ^_^
