Do you notice the crack in the shell?

The most interesting gift I received this Christmas was a Lionel 225e shell. It is interesting because the damn thing was split into two pieces when I opened the box!

Oh well! I do love fixing old trains!

I test fitted it to a new frame, and because of the method Lionel used to mount these engines to the chassis, the shell holds together, and the seam is almost unrecognizable. However! Knowing that over years upon years of maintenance, that will require disassembly of the locomotive, I plan to Epoxy the two pieces together, so as to prevent degradation of the point at which the pieces parted.
