Description
While all that had been going on, Eileen had been working on Endeavour, who was in a hangar opposite to where Discovery was. Eileen was watching Discovery in secret, and she clenched her jaw briefly when she saw that the technician standing near Discovery’s tailfin was new… and it was obvious he didn’t know very well what he was doing either.

She froze even more when she saw Gordon get much closer to Discovery as she knew that Discovery’s and Gordon’s relationship was pretty much the same one that a lion had with a hyena. As she watched, her heart caught in her throat, suddenly the technician near Discovery’s tail accidentally jerked the tools, causing the shuttle to yelp and instinctively swing her rudder!

The following scene was chaos. “RESTRAIN THIS SHUTTLE AT ONCE!!!!!” Gordon roared as the technicians forced Discovery into the chain bridle again and began to tow her away via two large trucks. Endeavour rushed out from behind Eileen, and she started to cry out in something Eileen couldn’t understand, but she knew Endeavour wanted to help. After a while, the three shuttles watched sadly as their struggling sister was towed away.

Eileen ran up to the shuttles as fast as she could. “It’s ok, girls…” She said softly as she stroked their noses. “You just sit tight, I’m going to help your sister!” The three shuttles watched as she ran off in the direction of the trucks.

As she approached one of the larger, isolated hangars on the far side of the center, Eileen’s hair stood on the end as she heard loud, agonized roars of pain and the sound of Gordon yelling, as well as the sounds of a whip cracking. Fearing the worst, Eileen slowly crept up to the door and peered inside; and she instantly felt sick to her stomach. Gordon had chained up Discovery and was beating her relentlessly over and over with his whip!

Eileen quickly put her hand over her mouth to muffle her gasp, and to prevent herself from crying out as she forced herself to stay hidden next to the door. She’d been able to rush in and help Endeavour before as she knew that the technicians wouldn’t hurt her, but given that Gordon would most likely strike her with his whip if she interfered, she kept silent knowing that if he hurt her she wouldn’t be able to help Discovery.

After what seemed like an eternity, the sound of whip lashing stopped, but Eileen could still hear Discovery growling. ‘She isn’t broken…’ Eileen thought to herself. ‘that’s a good sign…’ Gordon angrily lashed the whip at the wall. “I have to go now, Discovery!!” She heard him say. “But MARK MY WORDS I WILL BE BACK TOMORROW!!!” Eileen shrank back into the shadows as Gordon stormed out of the hangar.

After making sure that Gordon was completely gone, Eileen stood up again and cautiously made her way towards the hangar doors. Luckily, Gordon hadn’t locked them. She could hear Discovery still growling inside. “STUPID SWINE!!” She heard her say, and a crashing noise. Summoning up all the courage she could muster, Eileen put one hand on the door and gently slid it open.

When she heard the door opening, Discovery looked up and growled, thinking that Gordon had changed his mind, and was coming back to whip her again. However, she saw it wasn’t Gordon; It was the gentle woman who had piloted her!

Eileen slowly approached Discovery as not to startle her. “Easy Discovery… Easy girl… I won’t hurt you, I promise!” She said softly, reaching up for the chains around her head. Discovery growled. “GRRRRRR!!!!! WATCH IT HUMAN!!!” She snarled. Even though she knew that Eileen wasn’t likely to harm her, but she was still wary after the mistreatment she’d received.

But Eileen didn’t seem scared or frightened of her in any way. “Easy now… Easy girl…” She gently unfastened the chains and slipped them off, putting them down on the ground. “You’re free now, Discovery.” She said as she walked over and opened the door, giving her a smile, but still careful not to look her in the eye. “You can go back to your sisters now.”

Discovery slowly moved towards Eileen. The woman extended her hand, and though Discovery pulled back a little, she calmed down and allowed Eileen to stroke her nose. “T-thank you, Ms. Collins…” She whispered, though all Eileen heard was a soft growl. Then Discovery remembered Eileen couldn’t understand space shuttle, so she used gestures rather than words to thank her and gently nuzzled her hand.

Eileen smiled. “It’s ok, Discovery. I know what you’re trying to say. Now go quickly before someone catches us!” Discovery gave a quick nod, and rushed back to her hangar.

Eileen was left standing there for a few seconds, before she finally moved. She slowly closed the door behind her as to fool Gordon into thinking Discovery was still in there before leaving quickly and running to her car in the parking lot. “Heh… I can’t wait to see the look in his face when he finds out he’s been thwarted!” She said to herself triumphantly as she drove home.
