EDIT: I'm incredibly happy to see my favorite image voted a DD. thanks so much to *RedNihao for suggesting it and to ^DemonMathiel for the feature!I was shooting in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre with a friend when a religious ceremony suddenly began. These four nuns were a part of a larger group arranged in a row, but when I saw them positioned like that, it struck me that their apparent order of "religiousness" represented the exact opposite (in my eyes) to the famous illustration of Darwin's theory. This was a one in a million shot, since it is absolutely not staged in any way, and still looks exactly like I'd imagine it if I had staged it. As far as this is from what I usually shoot, I believe this is the finest image I've ever produced, both aesthetically and in its message.
I'm well aware that the title is provocative, yet I see it as a statement on a subject important to me personally. Let's just not turn it into a holy war or anything of the sort.

Wow. This is so amazing. I'm surprised you didn't put this with a warning, many would find this offensive. I think it is positively spectacular, great work. It leaves me absolutely speechless, I'm grabbing at words to describe it, but can't find anything! Once in a lifetime shot if you ask me.

I really like this photo. And the title too.
But, I think that i need to explain why because in my point of vue there is no offense against faith.
God, if I can try to talk about this particular conception, is questioning us about what are our origins. Personnaly, as a philosopher, i think that God or the Divin or the Supreme Light is the origin of all perceptions and conceptions. Kneel to pray is like recognize that you're a child of god. This is a position of humility because for a few minutes you are no longer the designer of your own life, you become a receiver of light (v) instead of being a user or giver (^).
Evolution is reversing in some ways because, as a child, you learn the deep mean of the name Father or Mother.
This is about Love, maybe.

google darwin's theory of evolution, somewhere there will be an sequential image beginning with an ape on all fours, gradually ascending to an upright wlaking man. evolution is a process of successful change.
this image shows the process in reverse, from a standing nun to a kneeling nun in the act of prayer. religion is so popular that the "descent" conveys success, in that religion has grown and adapted to become a succfully focal point in many people's lives.

I have to say I do not like the title and feel it somehow takes away from this spectacular image. (and no I am not religious)

"devolve" suggests something becomming worse rarther than better though doesn't it? evolution is about successful change, so "evolution in reverse", more suggests evolution going backwards successfully, which given how popular religion still is today seems to make it a fitting title.
that's just my take on it anyway :-p

It hurts me knowing that some people don't take full advantage of this unique possibility that is life. It's the only one they will ever have, and still they only care about pleasing an imaginary entity that gives nothing in return. I just hope they wake up while it's still time.

It is wonderful that you care for people, that you are not simply someone who hates religion, I am thankful for people like you who worry for others. But it hurts me that many people of this generation, discredit the existence of God simply because today's society acts as if God isn't necessary without first exploring the belief of those with faith. I don't know if you have an understanding of why people believe, and why it is worth it, I certainly didn't until 9 months ago when I started believing, and I didn't care. But after learning about what it means to truly believe in God and His word, it has changed my life for the better. I pray that you do look into it, or talk to someone who believes and listen to their point of view. I still live my life to the fullest degree of happiness that I can afford; I in fact have never been happier. The message of God is something that can make everyone's quality of life better, even if you don't end up believing in Him

What if that entity does exist? you can not prove otherwise, so it is always a possibility.
