I'm in awe with your work! I've faved this photograph over one hour ago and since then been all over the internet gathering information on IR converted cameras!
I have a few questions I need to ask you now that I did my homework, I really hope you can guide me as I love to take the less traveled paths... but love even better to do it with companionship of fellow adventurers!
1. Who or which company converted your camera? I've seen many companies propose this service but I find your conversion to be quite strikingly efficient compared to other results I've seen, while also taking into account the obvious talent you have developed with this. Which procedure did you choose, as I see there are many possible ways to convert a camera from a mix of visible/IR light to "full IR" blocking completely the visible range?
2. Do you use a lot of light in interior shots as this one of quite similar lighting techniques as you would with traditional photography? How many stops did you lose with the conversion?
3. I imagine you shoot RAW, is there any particular treatment of the RAW file you recomend? Do you use lightroom for this?
I hope you don't feel too invaded by my questions. I see you answer most of your comments, just as I do. And that you enjoy sharing technicalities much as I also do (as here if you would be interested in a first token of exchange on less traveled paths: [link] )
All in all, kudos for your brilliant work. I'm amazed and can't wait to learn more...

Glad you enjoyed viewing the image (you should check out my website, as it has much more tech info about the various IR camera's I've used, and hundreds of other IR images).
In answer to your questions:
1. My current IR conversion was done by Life Pixel (there's a link off my website which makes me a small commission if you did get a conversion through them). I have used them for two conversions to date, and have had about a dozen other photographer get conversions done by them (friends and peers) all with great results. All my conversions have been to the standard IR filter (which for my eyes, closest matches the look of Kodak HIE which was what I used when I made film IR images).
2. This image is made with flash, but I work with available light indoors too with IR (such as [link] ). In most cases, IR converted cameras are MORE sensitive in full sunlight than their rated ISOs, in my experience, but in overcast light, they are less sensitive (less IR), and as soon as the sunsets, they basically become useless...3 to 10+ stops slower, as there is effectively NO IR light once the sun is down!
3. All images are made in RAW, and converted in Lightroom. I hand convert each set of images, as the light has such a major influence on the IR range in the scene...often I am reducing brightness to 0 to control contrast, but in other situations, brightness might be 100, so it is totally dependent on the light in the scene!
Hope this helps!
e.

Thank you so much for this very cleared and detailed answer!
I heard of Life Pixel and your comment confirms they're one of the best. If I decide to do it (and I most probably will), be sure I'll go through your website, it's the list after both the inspiration and guidance I get from you!
Very interesting comment about sunsets, I never thought about it this way... Makes me realize it's a whole different world altogether to thing about IR light. We're so lucky to live in this period of time when we can see beyond our own sight.
All in all, thank you very much for these answers and the time you took, it is a great help indeed and I'm going to spend some time on your website in the coming days to get more familiar with your work.

What is tattooed on her? It looks like braille, but I looked it up and I can't find something that makes sense.

A converted 5D MarkII! The best camera of the world converted for IR! You may be the only one Photographer of the world who has a 5D MarkII converted.
And your photos have such a magic radiance. I am impressed very much!

Thanks for your feedback...I suspect there's a number of 5D MKII's converted to IR out there, but who can tell, really.

Thanks for your compliment, I am glad you enjoyed viewing the image. The photograph isn't taken with a red filter though - the camera has been permanently modified to be infrared sensitive, so no filter over the lens is necessary.

Thank you for the compliment. IR is quite magical, if a little frustrating...

Ah, sadly, I am not firing on all levels...just faking it well. The site should be a good upgrade...the current one is basically four year's dead. There's a new video coming too, hopefully by the fall!
