Most days I still sense it.
Like a slow separation of entangled nerves,
shedding from my mind,
piece by piece.
Guilty because I know no other way to feel.
Under the sum of all my choices I absorb shadows,
that dissociation below.
Feel it fester and creep,
sliding beneath a surface of false content,
fighting currents of doubt.
But treading an ocean of reason still won't satisfy emotional drought.
And likely I'm bound to repeat this,
Though this time I think it's under control,
Probably.
