I like the idea that you put YHWH and the alpha and omega into one tattoo (: I just got my YHWH tattoo yesterday and now I'm searching the internet to see people who've done the same. Have you gotten any 'weird'/hateful reactions because of it? Just curious

as ~maisteroey was saying, it is YHWH but most jews and Israelites read it as Addonai, because most sects of jews believed it to be blasphemy to utter the true names of God, thus over the years the correct spelling and pronunciation was lost.

there was i thinking that its YHVH (Yud Heh Vah Heh) in Hebrew, known mostly as 'The Unutterable Name'...I have it tattooed on my right wrist. The interesting fact about it is whenever you see LORD in the Bible (spelled all in capitols), it is the YHVH, translated to LORD out of a sign of respect to the name.
But then again, since the name and characters are several thousand years old, different meanings over time has been used, so anyway, I just wanted to say very nice tattoo...I got a bit sidetracked...

It's not pronounced "adonai." That is a substitution, meaning "lord," but it is not the pronunciation of YHWH - the tetragrammaton.
"Adonai" was (is) the more prominent substitution used when one would come to the personal name of God (YHWH) while reading aloud the Hebrew Scripture. This was (is) practiced because of the "ineffable name" superstition; a late innovation/over-extension of the "You shall not take Yahweh your God's name in vain" command.
This practice has unfortunately been adopted and blended into English translations where "Lord" is read in all caps (e.g. "the LORD," which should simply read, "Yahweh").
