For many years now I've been interested in the sleep related phenomenon called hypnagogia. Hypnagogia (or hypnopompia when waking up from sleep) is a half asleep-half awake state of consciousness, during which you may experience sensory disturbances, illogical and dream-like flow of thoughts etc.This piece depicts a "vision" which I saw during one such session, not very long ago. With my minds eye I saw myself laying on grass in a sort of a highway median, but I didn't look like myself, or like a person at all. I was represented by these shapes, which I tried to replicate in this piece.
This is not the only time some concept or idea has been represented by some abstract shapes or colors during these sessions, it's actually quite a common occurrence, but I don't recall having seen myself like this before, which was why this time stayed with me, and is now depicted in this piece. This is a subject matter, which I will probably return to later on.
