Description
These were all challenges made to me by a good while ago.Top: Challenge was to draw a feathered dragon. What you see is what you get.
Middle left: Challenged to draw a sex swap of my character, Sebastian Frois. The idea's been established before, but I've never drawn it before. As a lady, Sebastian would be named Sharona and there she is.
Middle right: Challenged to draw a sea monster of some sort. This one turned out to be *Suupashi 's favorite of the bunch. I think I enjoyed that more than I thought I would.
Bottom: Challenged for another bird woman of sorts. Did my best to tackle flight, which is a tough one for me still.
Pick a favorite.

The sea monster, of course. Reminds me of the illustrations in my Lovecraft novel. Random monsters are fun, especially since they don't have to obey the laws of physiognomy!

Damn straight. I really let myself go with it too. A tough face and lots of fins. Screw how it's supposed to work, hurr.

Lol a feathered dragon, I have feathered dragons in my story <3 Not quite so fluffy looking though, I think of it as looking at an egret or something. So I imagine them more sleek like their reptilian ancestors (or whatever XD) Though fluffed up when they are getting sassy or cute or just going to bed. I think it would be obvious I base that off of my own birds (they are seriously dragons - crazy crazy animals!!)
That sea creature looks GREAT! Seriously I honestly think it may be my favorite drawing of yours now (well I still LOVE your centaur slashing the guys from way back when - that one has epicness)

I wanna see your take on them one day then, because whenever I've seen dragons with feathers it felt to me as if the feathers weren't accenting anything about it. Instead it just kind of made them ludicrous to me. Funny thing is that I did keep birds in mind when I did that one. What birds do you have anyway? Because to make something like them into mythic titans is interesting to say the least. Oh, and I'm not sure, but I remember your sister telling me you guys think birds are modern day dragons. That's fun stuff, especially when I'll be thinking about these and see the ravens in the neighborhood come around.
Hurr, I wonder where the great charm in that water creature really lies. Maybe it's the beady eye, or the wavy fins. Or that little grin those big teeth made maybe? When I was drawing it, the one thing that stayed in my head was Unagi the Eel from Super Mario 64 and I went from there. I can't believe that old centaur picture still holds up somehow, oh man.

Well, its a weird versions of feathers. I figured if they were dragons than their feathers aren't actually very feathery you know? But I wont get into my psuedoscience there.
I have an Indian Ringneck (blue) and a Dusky Conure. We used to have a Half-moon Conure as well but it was stolen. I also have a friend crow, I know that sounds silly but I started throwing food for him and now he comes to me (I mean I don't touch him). But where I come from, its called Pajaro Valley which means Bird Valley. And it was not an inaccurate name because we had birds birds birds galore. I never saw such a range of birds.
Yes, because birds are insane. My indian ringneck has like little dens (under beds and any dark cavelike place) and she runs out and attacks like the most psycho creature I had ever seen. And they are just dead bold. And think about it, they COVET shiney pretty jewels and metals, they like their creepy dens, they fly around making a ruckus. Laying waste with their acid (their poopie - because it truly is high acidic), people see them circling in the sky and cower or run (in California yeah hahaha) They are just short of real fire, I tell you. Everyone in our family has agreed, if anything is like a dragon in this living world. It has to be a bird with some intelligence. In fact, I named my indian ringneck after a dragon in my story and Candy decided the dusky's name is Monster. Which is funny because he is MUCH nicer than Aea. Not that they are horrible pets, obviously we wouldn't have them if they were.
I think it just felt the most real to me. Believable.

I can sort of imagine what you mean by feathers that aren't feathery.
Ah, Pajaro Valley. Don't worry, I actually DO know Spanish, so I know that's what it means. Heh. But that's pretty awesome. Now I don't live where you do, but the wildlife around here is actually pretty cool. We have beautiful wild turkeys here and big fucking awesome ravens. Gotta love that caw, and they're lovely to me.
Never would've drawn those parallels myself, but that's pretty convincing. There's truth to every myth, if you ask me anyway. I looked up the kinds of birds you've got and they look wonderful. Birds can be so alluring and cute. Talking about that though is going to have me looking differently at the ravens around here though.
Believable, huh? I must've tapped into something new there. Very cool, thanks.

I wont speak on assumption, so the translation was given with no offense toward you. We have pretty much wild everything in California. Though in LA there are far less interesting animals. But thats a city for yah.
The cordid aka raven/crow family of some of the most intelligent bird species. I appreciate your appreciation for them because I feel they have been very misunderstood creatures. Mostly because they are black, too. The only black creature that was safe from silly human prejudices and lore have to be horses.
Well usually it takes one to own one to really see the personalities. That goes for anything. We've seriously always had a zoo. Right now we have two birds, ten cats, four dogs, two turtles, and a fish. We've had plenty of those in the past and then some: snakes, rabbits, tortoise, chickens, ferret, mice (who was friends with the snake), etc. I have done actual journal studies on the animal - which lead most people to believe I would pursue something in zoology or veterinary science lol but I just have a fervor for knowledge plus I do like animals.
One other point, concerning the birds, they ARE close relations to dinosaurs (many scientists, even ones I met, consider it that dinosaurs are not 'extinct' per say but rather evolved mostly into birds). And where did people get the notion of dragons? I believe from the bones, etc of dinosaurs.

I wasn't offended in the least, so don't worry about it.
And yes, it seems that way. There's a big bad rap on a lot of lovely creatures that've been laid on them for superficial and selective reasons. I've learned a little about how intelligent raven's are though and it's incredible to me. It's those kinds of things that make me wanna get closer to nature.
Impressive. I'm guessing there being many members in the household make it possible to care for and love all those critters. It's hard to imagine walking into such a place that isn't a pet shop . Oh, the snakes and tortoises, I love them, they're wonderful (I'm a reptile kind of guy). That thirst for knowledge is a wonderful thing, I'd love to share in it.
I also heard about that theory concerning dinosaurs and birds, or at least the relation avian creatures have with reptiles. It's amazing the way nature can weave itself into something so different with enough time and under the right circumstances. Although I came to the conclusion long ago that them old bones some may have found to think that majestic beings such as dragons once walked among us. Though, I can see also how there are still many things that stay with us.

As for the caretaking of the animals... not really. Probably who takes care of them most would be between my mom and myself, although my brother is supposed to clean the dog crap in the backyard. No everyone else in my house probably shouldn't have pets.
