Since apparently 'creative responses' stay with you for the rest of your academic life.... I really need to work on these nose things. She looks like a bug.

The light in this is believable I think it turned out really well. Best way to do it outside of the imagination is to recreate the scene. Get a friend who loves to get their picture taken (They are always around) and use that desire to create a foundation of light references. But that might be too much work? I think this looks good though.

xD, yeah, ideally reenactment would be the best way to learn how light actually is supposed to work (with reference photographs or even better, by asking them to sit still for a few hours to get their portrait taken in weird lighting) but unfortunately, I actually don't have friends I can ask who love to get their picture taken (wow, where are these people of which you speak; I must find them!)
I did try to look at some reference photos other people took of themselves by firelight and some of Godfried Schalcken's paintings to guess what it would look like in this case. xD. I'll do better next time, I guess. Thanks.

Hahaha, yeah, about that hand... It's supposed to be flat against the bottom of the candleholder or whatnot, so I left some vague strokes as to where it's supposed to go, but then (due to time constraints and general laziness) I ended up just not actually defining it. xD. Sorry about that.
