¨˜”°º•**e*m*p*e*r*o*r**•º°”˜¨this is the direction i took after the creatively inspiring collab with nate (meta6).
Things to note on the production here: A grid was the controlling element of this piece from start to finish. the programs used include flash, freehand, illustrator, and photoshop. The figure illustration is derived from a portrait shot of the brilliant mind at [link] .

There so many going throug my head when i see this, and is really difficult to write that down (bad english). But i really love the fact how you are mixxing up different elements. Like the circles and the directional elements. Normally i would think that combination wouldn't fit, but it seems that you're capable of putting it all together, every time.
Your 2d work is so organic, thats why the texture fits so well too it. The rusty font 'emperor' makes it all complete and balanced. Just one thing....the spider, is really really awsome and well placed. I love how the tentacle is reaching the bottom, it has definitly a great impact on the overall composition.

there are certain elemets that you use here, and in meta6 as well, that are truly wonderful and that I'm very fond of.
the biggest is the 'layering'.
And by that I mean the way the work is built up from the ground, keeping each 'layer' seperate but still blended and merged at the same time.
For instance: the dark grey/brown background could be a piece by itself, that's one layer. Next up comes the lightly tinted green semi-transparent cluster, climbing up, builds the bridge between the background and the lovely face. That then goes into the diagonals... This really broadens my horizon of the work. It makes it possible, for me at least, to see it in a sort of depth, closer and in harmony. Hell, even the small red bit at the rightside, is there for just that reason, in my mind anyway. I find it to be a work of great execution. Darn impressive.

thank you for the supremely flattering comment bud. im glad you like the "layering" aspect of this piece... as its something that i've been striving to understand better in my recent pieces. it intrigues me: having different plains of activity in a 2dimmensional piece of work. theres an entire host of problems that it presents as well... you can't just throw elements down and hope they look nice. balance, spatial issues, unity, and visual weight are all things that have really dominated my thought process lately. you're absolutely right that each and every element has been introduced to the composition for a reason... the bit of orange-red that ya point out in your comment is there as visual balance to the rest of the piece... anything touching the edges is used sparingly and appears for unity purposes... there are tiny specks of cyan throughout the piece to activate the orange, which in turn activates the browns/beiges because its the pure intensity of those colors... the diagonals are there to break the grid as well as hold it together (diagonals blow my mind) bleh i could go on forever. glad to see ya notice those things

ooohhh yyeeehhhh, thats what im talkin bout! this is fuckin fantastic. i see the circles made a return in this one, and i love em. im not sure if the black is supposed to be just a crack, but it really looks like a mosquito or something at the top. the texture in the background is awesome, i see you've got your browns happenin again
